Never Fall in Love with a Rockstar
Reviews

I picked up Never Fall in Love with a Rockstar (wow, that title is a mouthful) at Book Bonanza 2019. Rachel was signing another book and she mentioned that her newest release was *insert super long title here* and that it wasn't the usual rockstar romance. Well, I've read a lot of rockstar romances in my day. And they all follow a similar plot of girl who either doesn't know guy is rockstar/ girl is a major groupie of rockstar and they end up falling in love. So when Rachel said that this book was completely different form the usual trope, well my interest was piqued. And this book 100% lived up to the hype. Never Fall in Love with a Rockstar tells the story of a girl named Wildflower, *cough*, I mean Clover who is living the "normal" life. She is dating a "normal" guy and has a couple different "normal" jobs that keep her busy. So what more could she really want? How about a hot rockstar from her past who she used to be in the same band with?! *enters Kai* Kai is everything you could want in a rockstar. Bad past, broken but on the mend, and looking to be with the love of his life. Of course in real life he might throw up a few red flags with his past of addiction and his current lifestyle of being on the road, but in storybook land he is the perfect hot mess that you want to win out over "normal". But seriously this book gave me all the feels. I so wanted Clover to just take the leap with Kai and forget about the "normal" life she had built trying to forget him. But no romance novel is so cut and dry, so of course obstacle after obstacle was thrown in the way. If you are looking for a rockstar romance that plays out a little differently than the usual trope, this is the book for you! You too will fall in love with Clover and Kai and their ups and downs. I would love to see more of them in another book or novella, which is the true testament to how much this book rocked!

wasnt bad but adam not recognizing she was part of his favorite band because she stopped dying her hair was soooo dumb

Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads. Truth time: rockstar romances are NOT my favorite thing on the romance menu. I think I read way too many of them early on in my romance career. Plus, the heroes tend to be manwhores or recovering manwhores and I am so, so over that. I was a wee bit nervous when Rachel Higginson announced her latest book and it was a rockstar romance. But, she's one of my favorite authors for a reason, so I knew I had to read Never Fall in Love with a Rockstar. I knew she wouldn't do me wrong. I wasn't disappointed. Never Fall in Love with a Rockstar isn't a light and fluffy story. It's got some serious angst and got heavy at times. It's romance, yes, and a second chance one at that, but it also deals with addiction and recovery. Clover and Malachi have quite the history, as you might imagine. It wasn't the healthiest history either. I could understand her reservations about getting mixed up with him and the band again when they found themselves face-to-face. But, first love is a bitch. It's tough to resist. I could say a million things about Never Fall in Love with a Rockstar, but I won't. I feel this is the type of book that's best to just dive into without knowing much about it. It's a beautiful book with characters who got under my skin and into my heart, ones I just couldn't help but root for. I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Favorite Quotes: "I used to... live him. He was my everything. The band was my everything. My entire life revolved around Malachi Porter." I wanted to sink into him and run away from him all at the same time. Adam, or any man, would never feel like this. Like home. Like my heart and my soul and my happiness in one human being. "How did I think without you by my side? Breathe without you here to fill my lungs with oxygen? Sing without your song in my blood? How did the world keep on going without you in it?" Addict. Recovering addict. Rock star. Best friend. Ex-boyfriend. It did not matter. Malachi Porter was mine. He had always been mine. He would always be mine. And I would always be his.
