This is a lovely story about a man whose influence extends ever so much farther than he expects. As I read it, I thought about how many times strangers come to each others' aid on the internet. We see someone we only know from a forum. They have a need, or a request, and many of us will offer suggestions,look up info, or otherwise help, just because we "know" them.

I thought Keith went from a bit unworldly (e.g., never having seen/used a shower before) to handling quite a bit of stuff happened a little quickly. And some parts of his trip were glossed over a bit. 

It's all about having resources, personal and external, and being able to roll with the unfamiliar and come out ahead. He helped other people, and got help in return.

I'm definitely going to read more Nevil Shute. The audio version I listened to was excellent.
