I was still on a high from the previous book and wanted to give this one a try, but it was surprisingly boring and I didn’t feel any connection to the story. Too bad because I had high hopes after the third one being wonderful.

I have only read the Riverlands novellas from Nghi Vo's work so this piece is a nice change of pace. It cements her name as a great talent and emphasises I really need to get to her novels.

I love a creepy school setting, so I was intrigued to pick this one up. I thought Vo nailed the atmosphere, but the plot was a little lacking. I know it's only a novella, but I would've loved to have gone a little bit more in-depth with the characters and story. There wasn't enough to build tension or suspense, so the climax didn't hit as hard as I was hoping. I'd still recommend it if you're looking for a fast read.
