I glance up and look at the carrot he’s holding out to me. The color is, like, bright, toxic orange. Really, it’s the most vividly fucking orange carrot I’ve ever seen.

A bunch of them he actually wrote himself—including the newest one: Schizophrenia in the Adolescent Male: Signs, Symptoms, and Treatments. That’s the one he wrote about me.

The ground, in this case, being some kind of Persian tapestry rug over a hardwood floor—a rug covered in patterns like abstract palm trees—a rug I've stared at and tried to decipher at least five thousand times in the last two years.

And then there is that noise again—buzzing, screaming—darting in and out. I look around. But I am sure now that this noise is not a real noise at all. This noise is my disease—nothing but corroded synapses and misfiring chemical reactions.

Beautiful cover. Great premise. But lacks everything I wanted and hoped for. I knew that he would be an unreliable narrator and I was so so so pumped to read this book but it was disappointing really. The writing was just not great. I expected amazing writing that could put you into Miles' perspective but it only told you about what he saw and not what he felt. At this one point I wanted to throw the book across the room for using so many ands in a paragraph. At the end of every chapter it seems that the author put very choppy short sentences that looked pretty but didn't deliver well. Overall I get exactly why this book lured people into reading it but the writing just didn't do justice.

This whole book could've been written in like 100 pages since the author is describing every unnecessary thing. Although he rushes through the important stuff and the cliffhanger came when it was like 15 pages left of the book... 

He is also very repeating about things and probably 20 of the chapters ends with practically the same words! 

So he rushes through the best parts and he slowed everything down when it was the not the good parts.. It should've been the other way around and i think i would've liked the book so much more. It had the potential, but it Didnt live up to it!

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. Schizo is a great quick read, but the problem is, about halfway through I didn't have the heart in me to pick it back up and continue reading. I easily grew tired of Mile's life, despite the fact that he is a great and complex character, and was just waiting for the end moment of dawning realization and explanation that we all knew was coming. 
I could of easily given this 2/5 stars, but the ending was so great that I just couldn't do it.
