Letters to John Murray, Publishers, from Nicholas and Sarah Nicolas
"Letters of Nicholas Nicolas to John Murray II and John Murray III. They concern various publications, not all of them published by John Murray, in which Nicholas Nicolas was involved as editor. The publications relate especially to British history, among them: "The history of the battle of Agincourt; and of the expedition of Henry the Fifth into France" (London: Johnson, Brooke Street, Holborn, 1827); "The Retrospective Review, and historical and antiquarian magazine" (London: Baldwin, Cradock and Joy, 1827-1828); "The dispatches and letters of Vice Admiral Lord Viscount Nelson" (London: Henry Colburn, 1844-1846). The greater number of the letters, 1847-1848, concern the editing and preparation by Nicolas of an edition of the papers of Sir Hudson Lowe. Nicolas died before he was able to complete the publication. An edition of the papers, based upon the work of Nicolas, was published by John Murray in 1853, edited by William Forsyth: "History of the captivity of Napoleon at St. Helena; from the letters and journals of the late Lieut.-Gen. Sir Hudson Lowe, and official documents not before made public"."
