Portrait in Death was an interesting audiobook to listen to. I loved going back to this world and seeing Eve and the gang again. Still, I really feel like any book following the previous one would have a hard time beating it because there was just so much that happened in Purity. So the case in this book wasn't my favorite, and it really felt like it was just the background story because we had so much happen in the background this time. First off, Summerset gets hurt and is stuck in bed, so he can't go on his planned vacation, and Eve and Roarke have to take care of him instead. Then Roarke learns things about his past that are completely different from what he has always thought, so he spirals out of control for a little bit, so Eve's left on her own for the case. It was interesting to see her be the one that picked up the pieces this time around instead of him. So overall, it was a solid In Death book.
