I finally finished this book. I tried to read this story four times. Each time I end up dnfing it at some point, but this time I strangely made it to the end. I even got the arc for this book, but feel bad not liking it, so it just sat on my kindle unread. Honestly, I don’t know what happened this time, but I even end up kinda liking it. I mean, it was far from perfect, but I had fun. Sometimes. 

I usually stopped at about fourteen percent of the book when I tried to read it, so when I got past that point I had to admit I was quite invested. Unfortunately my enthusiasm didn’t last too long. I was even thinking at the beginning I will rate it four stars. Then something changed and I suddenly started wondering if I should even rate it two.


Let’s get to the point though. What exactly didn’t worked out for me?

The main characters. They were supposed to be 25, but they acted like 16/17 teenage boys. I know they grew up in poor conditions, but they were just stupid and stubborn. I have to admit that sometimes their behavior was stupidly funny, but sometimes I couldn't believe what they were doing.

The romance. If I had to pick two sentences to describe it, it would be this.

The whole "I hate you" thing was pretty fun at first, but after a while it got boring and repetitive. I just wanted them to get a grip and grow up. I know they were rivals on the track, but the book wasn’t even heavy on the motorcycle thing. 

The smut. It wasn’t bad, some scenes were hot, but I hated that most of them had no build up. One chapter finished on them talking and suddenly the start of the next chapter they already are in the act. It might be just my preference, but I personally think that the whole foreplay and build up to it happening is the best. 

Their hygiene. The author constantly reminded you how dirty they were. Their nails, clothes, hands, everything. I was pretending they were clean, because I couldn’t visualized it, without screaming at them to go take a shower. 

The last thing. The word "fuck" was used 876 times. In different combinations obviously, but 876 times. It’s not that it was a huge problem for me, but at one point it was used at least five times on a single page, and out of curiosity, I decided to checked how many times the characters said it in the book and I got shocked. 


I still finished the book in basically one sitting so it’s not that I hated it or didn’t enjoyed it. I think some people will definitely love this story and these boys. It’s just not me. However, I will probably read the second part, because I am genuinely curious how their story will end. Nate and Xavi are also one of the reasons. Their dynamic is funny and I can’t wait for their book.

Super cute. As soon as I saw motocross I was sold. This story was very nicely written and I enjoyed all the characters. I love that their dynamic didn’t change even though they’re in a relationship.

Easily in my top 10 reads for this year. Devon and Maddox’s relationship was intense and actually kind of refreshing (as in they aren’t lovey dovey, but rough and not afraid to push each other in every single way).
