My First Festive read of 2022 & this did not disappoint at all, this is a Middle Grade that is full of Wonder, Magic and intrigue that makes it impossible to put the book down because you are thinking about what is going to happen next. 

Once upon a time there was an "east-born" beautiful girl who was named Ebba Rose. She was one of the eight children of a poor farmer and his superstitious wife, and the family reside in a village called Andalsnes in Njord. One day, a white bear showed up at their home and demanded to take Rose with him in exchange for a good fortune for her ill-fated family. Of course, her family, except for her mother, opposed this. In the end, however, Rose decided to go with the bear thinking by doing so, she would be able to help her sick sister and her struggling family. It turned out that the white bear was cursed by the Troll Queen and was hoping that Rose would be the one to break that curse, but Rose's curiosity got the better of her before that happen. And so, her adventure to save her white bear began.

Rose is a wonderful protagonist. She is such a determined character and is willing to do whatever it takes for the people that she loves and cares about. Her Brother Teddy was such a sweet and careening character himself that the pair of them make a great brotherly sisterly unit. 

I loved the Story and the journey that makes up the main bulk of the story itself, the writing is super magical and descriptive that you are reading thinking you are right there with the characters. This is such a magical adventure book that I would highly recommend to anyone!

I ADORED this story so so much. I loved each of the POV’s, I think the variation really added to the telling of this story. I really enjoyed reading about Rose’s family too. The chapters about them really reminded me of the vibe of Little Women which I really enjoyed about it. The atmosphere in this book is incredible and I found myself getting sucked right in each time I picked it up. For a (nearly) 500 page book it just flew by, I have nothing negative to say about it. One of my favourites of the year for sure!

Beautifully written and very atmospheric. I do feel like it dragged a bit sometimes and some of the most interesting things would happen much faster than what I wanted to, but it was a beautiful story nonetheless and still very easy to read. Whimsical and hopeful and I enjoyed that we followed more than the main character through the years. I got what I expected from this story so it is a solid 4 stars. SPOILER: Althought the ending is a bit of a no no for me cause there was no need for romance. And I don't need to see a young woman, barely out of her teenage years, marrying a man with more than 100 years old.

I am absolutely in love with East of the Sun and West of the Moon, so when this book was re-published, I couldn't be happier. And it did not disappoint. This was amazing, and I loved it with all my heart.
