Fun! Enjoyed. The main characters are both idiots, but they also both made me laugh at seperate times so I forgive them for the instances they also annoyed me.

Okay first of all RAPE CW.
The main character is a rapist. Also a cheater, although I didn't make it far enough for that reveal. But it's the heroine's fault that their marriage is in shambles!!!! Because she barred her bedchamber to him!!! (Because she literally had to LOCK HER BEDROOM DOORS to prevent her husband from raping her IN HER SLEEP!!!) LORD HAVE PITY IT'S A CRAZY CITY because I was recommended this from a reputable source and it turns out the main! character! is! literally! a rapist! But like it's totally okay because she really is filled with desire for him and super enjoyed their non-consensual time together! SO ROMANTIC! 
I will say I liked the heroine a lot; she is a cool-ass lady doctor. I want to protect her from this awful storyline. (Although apparently later she also has sex with whatever-his-name-was [it was Leo I just remembered] in his sleep? WHY!)
I did like the writing, and one of this author's other books got really good reviews from people I trust on here, but I'm still reluctant to read her again... like, I can really put up with a lot in my historical romances because it comes with the genre, but """romantic""" rape is not one of those things! Sorry! Please don't read this book!!!!! (dnf @ 184/511 in ebook format)

This felt a lot different than most of the romances I've read lately. Similar to Barely a Lady for me. I enjoyed the non-sexual mature nature of the book: two flawed adults are struggling to find a way to fix their marriage years after it fell apart. Very well written and the setting was definitely a new one for me. I also liked the way Thomas slowly explored the characters and the months leading up to their separation. The slow reveal of their back story made it all the more real to me.
