Occupied City

A struggle. I enjoyed Tokyo Year Zero, but this was a bit too experimental for me. You have to be in synch with the rhythm of a writer, and the chopping and changing (sometimes deliberately repetitive in an almost quasi-religious way, sometimes waving three different ‘voices’ in three different fonts) was almost too much for me, and sort of muddied the waters regarding the story; the horror of the crime, the need for a culprit, the blindness of a wrongful arrest, and the background of the victors wanting to punish the vanquished (while at the same time making free with their biological warfare discoveries and top scientists).
