Os primeiros capítulos demonstram uma capacidade de análise invulgar, em parte criada pela enorme bagagem da autora nos domínios da psicologia e psicanálise, tornando os textos muito incisivos e instigantes. Contudo, à medida que vamos avançando na leitura, a análise vai dando lugar a meras descrições de curiosidades encontradas em viagens, conversas com pessoas, tudo entremeado por dois ou três contos que atravessam todo o livro, mas em que nada nunca se vincula. 

O problema, para mim naturalmente, é a falta de ligação entre todas as partes. Percebendo que vivemos num mundo fragmentado, aceitando que essa é mesmo a nossa condição, espero ainda assim mais de um autor. Considero-o não criador de fragmentação, antes pelo contrário, considero-o curador do mundo que apresenta. E penso assim, porque se o mundo é fragmentado, e a nossa relação com ele também o é, a nossa principal motivação é exatamente lutar contra essa fragmentação, e por isso perseguimos narrativas atrás de narrativas. Quando um autor se abstém desse trabalho, se deixa levar pela condição do mundo, vejo-o como um baixar dos braços.

Olga Tokarczuk is probably one of my favorites writers ever. This is actually the first book I have read from her but I have already a review of her book Drive your Plow over the Bones of the Dead in my bookstagram so you can go check that out if you are interested. I also plan on reading her other book Primeval and Other Times soon. I have already bought it online and I can't wait for it to arrive. 😅

This book is translated into English but I actually read it in Portuguese and I think the translation was pretty well done and have nothing to point out. I actually would have not mind read all of her works in Portuguese but normally the Portuguese translation are way more expensive so since then I have bought the English translation. But like... look at this cover from the Portuguese version... stunning!

This book was a magical compilation of captivating and intriguing short stories about traveling in general, what it means to be a wanderer through not only space but time. More specifically it tells us about much more, such as the human body, death, motion, migration, etc.

Definitely, there were some stories that I enjoyed more than others, some were a bit slow and not very captivating according to my taste but maybe completely more enjoyable depending on what you like to read about. I think the stories are so diverse that you will most likely find one that you really enjoy.

Overall this is one of my favorites books of all time, and I can't wait to read more about this amazing polish writer.
