I think I would’ve loved it more if this was the first fantasy book ever. It’s a good very fresh new beginnersbook to open the door to the more harder world building of fantasy. Like just a starters book.

I am sad that they write letters to each other that clearly makes their relationship evolve but we don’t get to see what is in the letters. Like girl I wanna read them too. 

I just REALLY miss Caydens POV this wouldve really made it 5⭐️for me. Because u read a little about his scar and his mom but I want his life story. I want to see what he feels and what goes thru his head so I think that’s what I was sad about. I don’t have anything against one POV but this really needed Caydens. I think I just missed alot of important moments.

hard no, really bad. the premise sounded so cool, long lost princess who is in control of dragons! but dear god, it ended up being like the most cliche part of every romantasy book you’ve ever read. every single trope thrown in. 

smart, sarcastic, and utterly selfless girl who can also fight meets a boy cloaked in shadows and she pulls a knife on his throat!! they HATE each other! (don’t ask why, no one knows why.) uh oh he’s a bad boy high ranking officer! (he did nothing besides eat pastries so he’s a really piss poor one) there’s so much sexual tension between them!! (there’s not, he randomly starts calling her “angel” and she pretends to hate it) also there’s like no dragons, there’s more mentions of vanilla iced lattes than there are mentions of dragons… so i feel duped.

this was so unexpectedly good!! fast paced, found family, tension, dragons, revenge, ugh just amazing and can’t wait for the next one, my only “problem” was that the last 10% of the book was very chaotic and too fast paced if you know what i mean

-marketed as a heist book. no heists and like a passing comment about doing a heist by the halfway mark.
