I still feel like Alain is a long lost soul mate who took a slightly different path. We had similar upbringings and our first passionate loves were indeed very similar. This is the book I would/should have written about my first true requited love but Alain wrote it for me and continues to write the books that I wish I could write as eloquently. This, however, remains my favourite.
