Chris Carter2013
FROM THE AUTHOR OF THE SUNDAY TIMES NUMBER ONE BESTSELLER THE CALLER. Detective Robert Hunter of the LAPD's Homicide Special Section receives an anonymous call asking him to go to a specific web address - a private broadcast. Hunter logs on and a horrific show devised for his eyes only immediately begins. The LAPD, together with the FBI, use everything at their disposal to electronically trace the transmission down, but this killer is no amateur, and he has covered his tracks from start to finish. And before Hunter and his partner Garcia are even able to get their investigation going, Hunter receives a new phone call. A new website address. A new victim. But this time the killer has upgraded his game so that anyone can take part ... I think One by One is by far the best book I’ve read in this series. Detective Robert Hunter receives a chilling phone call telling him to visit a web address where he is forced to participate and watch as an under tidied victim is tortured and murdered on the internet. Before There is even time to start an investigation Hunter receives a new phone call. A new web address and a new victim. Only this time it is streaming live where people of the public can cast the deciding vote in this sick and twisted game. This was by far the most twisted and gruesome and thrilling in the series, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time wanting to know what happens. Wanting to know who the killer was. I have grown this attachment to Robert Hunter and Carlos Garcia, that if Chris was to ever to stop writing these characters I would feel like a part of me would be lost. I can’t wait to read what comes next.

Really enjoyed the killers MO in this one, it felt relevant and current, I felt like the order of the killing created a slight dip, with the first murder being far more shocking and gruesome than the second or potentially the third. I would have ordered the killings 2, 3 then 1. But still really enjoyable.
