America propaganda. But a brilliant idea for a book

This was a pretty interesting book, outside my normal reads but it kept my attention throughout. Highly reccomend.

This was a super interesting book, the pacing was nice and it didnt seem to far fetched. Not quite what i usually read but definitely a great read.

This book was absolutely insane! It was never on my radar and I had never even heard of it. My husband had read it and when we went on a road trip he told me we had to listen to it. Seriously life changing. It is this man and his family and small town trying to survive after an EMP hits. This is one of my biggest fears! It was so detailed and so real life that I was crying, panicked, panicked, and completely freaking out at times. I'm sure plenty of people think that this is stupid and whatever I seriously don't even care... this book hit me deep in my core.

The premise of this book was very interesting, but the author’s voice definitely ruined it. Not only was there a sexist comment made pretty much every chapter, but the writing style itself was weak. Forstchen spends so much detail on things that don’t matter to the story (such as which young female characters look sexy) that he forgets to adequately explain any of the major fight scenes crucial to the plot- making it a confusing and unfulfilling read.

Basically a mastabatory fantasy for the right, this novel was still oddly compelling. I eye rolled on many occasions but also got choked up towards the end. It was eye opening to see the world through the eyes of someone so thoroughly sure of their own dominance that he wrote a thinly veiled tale honoring his greatness. A few gems: To see the woman mayor call herself--literally-- the 'dumb female in the crowd' ask for his help, then step aside. Condescending asides about characters: The hippies who would surely be the first to die because they suck from the teat of the masses paying for their lifestyle. So and so dropped dead walking down his driveway because he was so out of shape. And how a huge percentage of the town dropped dead from starvation-- after enduring a 900 calorie diet. America is fat! It's all their fault! Sigh. Has the author never heard of fasting? There's more, so much more, but I've wasted enough time. This novel had good and bad points, the most important one being to point out the short sightedness of not protecting our electrical grid. In this one issue he is right, undeniably.

The crime, the real crime, was those who truly knew the level of threat doing nothing to prepare or prevent it.
