** spoiler alert ** OKAY, WHAT WAS THAT ENDING. CAMMIE WHAT ARE YOU DOING! I need the next book. These are getting really good!

REREAD (audiobook) 2018: SUCH QUALITY. gg is such an underrated series.

Amazing... More Zach and Cammie moments that you just live for. xoxo, Bebe

I loved this one. It jumps on us with a twist in the beginning and plays out quite well. I was, however, aware of the fact that this is a book for younger girls. It isn’t a bad thing, though. It was sometimes quite funny to read this. I find Edward very interesting on the reread because I know some spoilers that come later, but I hated him in this book. I think that was the goal, though...

I hate the ending. Bring back Mr. Solomon!

Ill admit, this book was probably my least favourite book in the whole series. It was boring, and I found myself skimming over some parts. It's a shame because I love this series but i couldn't keep up with this book. But nonetheless, Ally Carter still did a wonderful job in tying the last book with this one and this book with the next. Ill give this 4 stars!

damn cammie! bex is gonna be so mad in the next book. i'm so glad mr solomon is one of the good guys

LOVE THESE SO MUCH

“...nothing ever happens quickly (except when it does). Nothing is ever, ever easy (except when it is). And, most of all, nothing ever goes perfectly according to plan (except in the movies).” I just love this series. I need book 5 now...NOW!

** spoiler alert ** WOWZA. I HAVE SO MANY THINGS TO SAY. 4.5 stars, first of all. I can't believe there are two whole books left, because it feels as if that was the climbiest climb to the climax that there ever was. It feels like some serious shit is about to go down, if there are two full books left. Let's be real, the first half of this book is a little boring. There are questions, little answers, and not a lot of movement. BUT THE SECOND HALF?! Holy grapes. So many plot twists happen at once it is hard to keep track of them all. So, it was fairly obvious going into this book that the "double-agent" was going to be Joe Solomon. I mean, Ally Carter had set up the suspicions pretty nicely. But, it also was TOO obvious, and I was fairly certain that although he was made to look REALLY BAD, I was pretty sure that he would eventually be turned around. Or maybe I just hoped. Who knows. There's less Zach in this one, it feels, until the last third of the book or so, which I was pretty pleased with because I was tired of him showing up with no answers. But let's be real, you're here reading this because PLOT TWIST(S)!!! Okay so I'm preeeeeetty sure I had never read this before, but parts of me knew some of what was coming, and I'm not sure if that's because I knew spoilers but didn't know they were spoilers, or I am so forgetful that I forgot a good portion of the book but remembered important stuff. ANYWAY, I kind of knew that Blackthorne was going to be an assassin school. I was doubting my suspicion (because they hadn't mentioned it so far and I was sure I hadn't read this so how would I know), so that didn't surprise me. I definitely did not expect Blackthorne to go under (at least I think that is what happened). I was definitely shocked that Zach's mother was the woman from the rooftop, but I also wasn't at the same time (see what I mean about not knowing if I've read this before?!) I also had a feeling that Cammie's father would be showing up somehow (as in, how he died, not his actual self) but I had a little suspicion that he would show up in person, especially once Cammie thought so. But I really hope he doesn't, because that seems really cruel to both Cammie and her mom. THE BIGGEST TWIST OF ALL THOUGH, was that Zach's mom (AKA the woman from the rooftop in Boston AKA the woman trying to kidnap/kill Cammie) was a Gallagher Girl?! I totally did not see that coming (which is why I'm preeeeeetty sure I haven't read this because who could forget that). Up until now, we have been coerced into thinking that the Gallagher Girls are the good people, always on the right side and never straying, and it didn't even occur to me that some could have gone dark (even though looking back now, there might have been a few clues - but not enough for me to come to that conclusion on my own). Like, I am so SHOOK right now (this feels like a good moment to use the word 'shook' tbh). Anyway, I didn't like Agent Townshend. It didn't seem like he really served a purpose other than to provide a maybe/potential enemy to the girls. And he's a terrible person too, which made him an extra-terrible character. I'm a little curious to understand why Abby seems so worn (I mean I know she was shot last book, but I feel like something else is coming), and I also feel like Macey didn't get much focus either? I know the last book was essentially all about her, but in this one it barely feels like she's even there. On a different note, there seem to be a few plot holes that don't reeeeeeally matter, but are there and are noticeable anyway and are kind of distracting. First, Cammie says she used to live in Arlington when for the past three books, she said she lived in D.C. (I know they're practically the same, but they're actually not, and that was annoying). Another weird thing is the idea that an MI6 agent and other CIA and specially trained spies can't seem to break into Sub-Level Two, but a bunch of teenagers can??? Like I understand that this serves as a significant piece of the plot, but it just seems so unlikely I found it odd. Also, in terms of the writing, I actually found it difficult to picture the Blackthorne Institute. The description was super complex and my mind kind of got overwhelmed (but that could be because I was reading rather quickly to get to the end and my imagination just couldn't keep up). On an entirely different note, when Cammie made that decision at the end to run away and hide herself (which by the way, makes a much better plot point than her running away with Zach)? REMINDED ME AN AWFUL LOT of the end of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (which is another reason I can't believe there are two whole books left instead of just one). I hope that in the next one she is reunited with her friends (and her mother, because Rachel Morgan is just the coolest mom ever and we should get more of her) because I can't see Cammie functioning on her own as a very interesting read, to be honest. I just want teamwork, okay?! ANYWAY, this is easily the best book in the series BY FAR. I appreciate that there isn't as much emphasis placed on the romance (but enough that we remember Cammie & Co. are still teenage girls), and while the plot twists come like falling dominoes near the end, I am so grateful that (so far) Joe Solomon seems to be on the good side, because I reeeeeeeeeally don't want him to be evil (anymore). I'm so happy I have the next book ready to go, because honestly, I am in agony writing this and not reading already.

I love this series I cant wait for the next one to come out!!!!

4.5/5 stars I need to catch you up because I may or may not be behind for reviews of books I read pre-April-ish (oops) This series has quickly become an absolute favorite of mine!! I read the first one a couple years ago and decided to continue only recently - why I didn't decide that before is beyond me. This series is the most fun, addictive, binge-worthy, romantic series. I can't get enough of it!! I rated Only the Good Spy Young 4.5 stars instead of 5 only because I felt some weird character inconsistencies, especially in my BABY Zach, which was a little frustrating. So I guess this book is my least favorite of the series. Nonetheless, that ending threw me for a loop, and you betcha I'm going to devour the last two books very very soon!! In essence, READ THIS SERIES! If you enjoyed this review, you can friend me here on Goodreads and follow me on Twitter and Instagram @ashton_reads. Love ya!
