Reread: 09/15/21 It’s so crazy to me that Haruhi is so dense… well Tamaki is also pretty dense! Perfect for each other I guess! On this volume we see the host club shirtless on many of the chapters. I have no complaints in regards to that. This is definitely the volume where everything starts picking up. We learn more about Haruhi and how she is so aloof and independent. I was also surprised that Tamaki was able to figure it out by himself (the Dense King) I loved the bantering that both of them had because they’re mad at each other. I just Tamaki to be so endearing, so childish and just wanting for Haruhi to like him as a father, but so blind to his own heart. Oh dear Tamaki 💔 I love how we get to see two of my favorite scenes not only on the manga but also on the anime because it translates so beautifully. One of them happens with Kyoya and the other one happened with Tamaki… If you know you know. And the ending HILARIOUS!

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 Bookstagram After finding multiple inconsistencies and a still developing style of drawing with the first two volumes, I was fairly worried about this once again being the case. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I am glad that I picked up this third volume for my reprieve from young adult fantasy in the read-a-thon. Drawing Style: I was quite satisfied that the author has finally established her character style. For the first 2 volumes, there were so many inconsistencies with the drawings that it became hard to establish who was who. However, I am glad to say that this seems to finally have settled and I can FINALLY picture the characters without having to refer back to the manga. What I also loved to see was the beginning of proper dialogue distinction and less of a cluster fck in each box strip. Before there was SO MUCH cramped into the tiny box and now I was actually able to distinguish what is being said. The flow is just so much more better. The Plot: I am still struggling to see the true plot, however there is something coming up from all of this. While I do understand that each volume is centered around Haruhi paying back her debt, it just is not brought up much and each volume seems like a filler to the impending romance of Haruhi and Tamaki - as we all know that these two are just being awkward lovebirds! Character Development: While the character development has become stagnant in some ways, I am still learning a few new things from each of the characters. I do find it hard to give personality to each of the characters still, which I believe has to do with there being so many characters. Drawing out characters and giving them unspoken/ written word personality seems much harder than writing a novel with lengthy descriptions of characters. That is why I am not pushing to hard on this; however, I do believe that the characters need to develop much more than what they are now. I have restarted OHSHC anime - as it is now on Netflix! It honestly is just so cute and makes me want to have my hands on the rest of the volumes in the manga series!
