Out of Control starts with a bang and never lets up. Liva witnesses the murder of her father’s friend, who she happened to be staying with at the time, and is currently in the police department being questioned. The police station gets attacked, gun shots flying everywhere, and she finds herself on the run with a car thief named Jay, who she knows next to nothing about, fighting for her life. Intense? Yes. Terrifying? Pretty much! Heart-pounding! You got it!

Liva was a strong heroine, the kind of love to see in books like this. She was strong, but mentally and physically, and refused to give up. She was tough, ran and fought whenever necessary, and was there to help her friends as well. She earned the well-deserved title of Badass, in my opinion.

I was so attached to this story. I loved the intensity, the way I had no idea what was going to happen next, and how Sarah always makes us wonder if the “good guys” are actually good! With no one to trust, it’s incredibly scary how I felt for Livy and wanted her to be safe. The twists and turns Sarah throws in are sure to keep you on your toes. You never know what you’re going to get in this book, forever being surprised with where the story goes. It was incredible and so well-written!

Sarah Alderson is helping to renew my love of thrillers! I’m so picky when it comes to “scary” books. I’m not always able to enjoy them since I’m easily scared and I don’t usually like things with too much gore, any form of torture, harm to animals or children, or “monsters”. Out of Control was a perfect combination of Kindle-gripping horror and realistic terror. It’s the realness of her stories that make me love them so much. There aren’t monsters or ghosts or fairies… there are bad guys that are simply out to kill! Scary, intense, and incredibly gripping. If you like thrillers, you HAVE to read this book!
