Ovid

Ovid's deliciously witty and exuberant epic starts with the creation of the world and brings together a series of ingeniously linked Greek and Roman myths and legends in which men and women are transformed, often by love - into flowers, trees, stones and stars. This new verse translation, in simple and swift English hexameters, allows Ovid's narrative to flow - pulling the reader along with it.

Metamorphoses

« happy is the man who has broken the chains which hurt the mind, and has given up worrying once and for all. »

i personally believe ovid should never have been allowed to write about women, every other page (every single page more like) had me wanting to weep at what the women went through at the hands of men.

i had read this before and am familiar with most of the stories and could easily recite them to others however ask me to summarise this book and i'd be at loss for words because so many stories just happened and kept happening.
