I've always enjoyed Monica Murphy's books, so when I received an offer to review the first book in her new (and sexier!) Fowler Sisters series, I jumped on it. And boy am I glad I did. 

Office romances are a trope I tend to enjoy. I love the "forbidden" nature of them. While that's not really the basis of the storyline in Owning Violet, it's what originally attracted me to the book. (I'm really a sucker for any type of forbidden romance.) What I got instead (and LOVED) was a whole bunch of lies and manipulations and twists and turns. The story kept me on my toes and, honestly, kept me guessing right up until the end because I wasn't really sure how everything was going to play out. 

Violet began the book as the "good girl." She played by the rules and did what was best for her family. She was a smart woman, but she didn't have much of a backbone. Her boyfriend was an asshat with a wandering eye... and then some. Enter Ryder. Ok, so Ryder was NOT a good guy. He's not the kind of guy you can trust, but he certainly is the one you lust after. He was just as ambitious as her jerk of a boyfriend and he loved to play games. When she became the target and he agreed to seduce her and drop her to break her, things got all kind of hot. The chemistry between Violet and Ryder was intense. He pushed her boundaries and I feared the sexy scenes might make my iPad catch fire. Of course, nothing is entirely what it seems and once real feelings get involved, the story gets that much more complicated. And I loved every minute. 

This is how to kick off a new (and smokin' hot) series. The second book in the series, Stealing Rose, won't be here until March, but I'm already anxious to read it. I can't wait to get more of the youngest Fowler sister. I think her story will be really interesting. The quietest ones are usually the wildest. :)

This is the first book I have ever read by Monica Murphy but it will not be the last.
It started off slow but that was ok because you get to know the main characters a bit but then this book gets HOT and sexy and I did not want to put it down because I just couldn't wait what happens next. 

Owning Violet is book one in The Fowler Sisters trilogy. It is very well written and at the end I just wanted to get my hands on the next two books but unfortunately I will have to wait a few months because book two (Stealing Rose) comes out in March. 

If you are into erotica romance books than I highly recommend this.

I’m such a big fan of Monica Murphy, so when I heard she had a new series coming out, I jumped at the chance to read it! Owning Violet is the first book in the Fowler Sisters series and it. is. HOT. You’ll need a fan while you read this because Monica Murphy turns up the heat between a good girl and a very, very bad boy. I highly enjoyed this one – I loved the characters, the sexiness, and the angst. It did take me a bit to warm up to the book, but before long, I was addicted to everything about this story.

Owning Violet is a romance between complete opposites: Violet, the proper, good daughter who will one day run the family business; and Ryder, the dark, wicked man who is way too tempting for his own good. When I first met Violet, I wasn’t too sure how to feel about her. Her life is perfectly set up – she’s been groomed to take over Fleur Cosmetics and she’s the perfect, attentive girlfriend. In other words, she’s a bit boring. But then enter Ryder McKay. He’s everything Violet isn’t – sensual, wicked, intense – and she can’t stay away from him.

Ryder is a jerk. He is ambitious, ruthless, and has no qualms about who he has to bulldoze over in order to climb up the corporate ladder. He works at Fleur Cosmetics, but he wants a better position – the same position that Violet’s boyfriend Zachary is aiming for. And with Violet being the boss’s daughter, Ryder concocts a plan to seduce her to win her father’s attention and favor. When Violet and Zachary break up, Ryder makes his move. But the more Ryder immerses himself in his plan, the more he can’t stop thinking of Violet – or wanting her for himself.

Hell. I feel like I could come apart. With her like this, I feel as if I could spiral out of control at any moment. All I want is her. All I can think about is fucking her. Making her mine. Owning her.

Violet knows what kind of man Ryder is, but she wants to step out of her comfort zone after years of being the proper daughter and girlfriend and Ryder is the perfect man to help her do that. And oh. my. god. The sex in this book is on fire!! There’s a fierce, carnal hunger between these two and chemistry is explosive. But it’s when Ryder and Violet spend time outside of the bedroom that Violet falls for this man, even when she tries to guard her heart.

“You don’t seem like the sort of man who likes waiting.”
“Depends on the woman,” he says. And then he’s touching me, his hand is cupping my cheek, his face is in mine, his body blocking out all available light until he’s everything I see and feel and touch. “And you are definitely worth waiting for.”

Ryder never expects that he’ll actually want more from Violet than just her body. He never expects to fall for this girl who is his complete opposite and has so much goodness in her. I loved seeing this harsh, ruthless man fall in love with someone he believes deserves so much better than him. He’s a jerk, but he’s a jerk I couldn’t help but love. My heart was aching for Ryder, at the realization that if Violet ever finds out about his plan, he could lose the best thing that has ever happened to him.

We shouldn’t make sense together. She’s sweet and good and I’m mean and awful. She cares too much and I have zero fucks to give. A woman like Violet deserves to be worshiped and loved. She’s powerful and smart and gorgeous and sexy and…
Fuck. I want to be the one who worships her and loves her and tells her just how smart and sexy she is every day. For the rest of her life.

I had such a great time reading Owning Violet. My heart was going crazy for Violet and Ryder! ‘Opposites attract’ takes on a new meaning for these two characters. Owning Violet is fast-paced and highly addicting. I highly recommend this book – Monica Murphy fans, you don’t want to miss this!
