Paladin's Strength by T. Kingfisher is a follow-up, companion piece to Paladin's Grace. On the romance front, paladin Istvhan meets his match in nun Clara.

Clara is accidentally rescued by Istvhan. He is leading a party to find and stop the source of the smooth men golems. Clara needs to rescue her sisters who were kidnapped. Both have secrets. Both feel an instant zing. Both are too polite to act on it for two thirds of their journey.

Clara in a couple dozen pages earned her place as one of my favorite T. Kingfisher/Ursula Vernon characters. She's big, strong, sexy and knows what she wants. Yet she respects personal boundaries even when it's clear the other party is also interested. She's also deliciously blunt after she gets to know a person.

Once again, book 2 of Saint of Steel trilogy worked great for me. 

We now follow 2 other main characters, the male character being acquainted to the MC from book 1.

The strong points are the same here as in book 1. Intriguing story, solid plot and a good balance between romance and adventures.

And omg ! For once we have a FMC similar in size than the MMC ! So refreshing to see because i'm getting annoyed with the he's so big and i'm so small pattern

it didn't hit the 5 stars read for me because this book is longer than book 1 and it felt a bit dragging at some point. Add that fact that those two were particularly frustrating hahaha

Such a unique love story with amazing world building and characters! I felt the middle dragged a bit but the climactic ending totally made up for everything and more. You can’t help cheering for the hero and heroine after all they’ve gone through. They are both such wonderfully decent beings.

Other reviewers felt the ending was too abrupt but I didn’t feel that way. Even without a fluffy epilogue, with what the heroine and hero have gone through and overcome, you just know they’ll make it and are in it for the long haul together. It is a true partnership where they will always have each other’s back. If there’s any power(ful) couple to believe in, it’s Cara and Istvhan.
