Me when I see there is a hot, tall, dark haired with a hint of silver hair, single dad, owning a successful ranch, who is you-sexual and is respectful.

His story is in the fourth book, tho? *skips two books and starts the fourth one*

Basically that's how it went. Not that these two books were hard to skip, because I didn't like the first one, and the second one was supposed to be similar from what I heard. This book was far from perfect, but I still enjoyed it to some extent. 

Wes Owens is crushing on the hottest, most wanted single dad in his town for three years, but he knows that Michael is 'straight' so he doesn’t act on it. He is working on his ranch and helps take care of his daughter as much as he can, but one day when Michael founds out he is secretly does pretty dangerous sport, their relationship changes. 

The main characters were pretty likeable, where I liked Michael a tad more. He had some moments, but it wasn’t that bad or he apologized. What I didn’t liked is him calling Wes 'kid'. It also happened in a few romance books I previously read and I simply don’t understand why? Is it normal in America? In my country definitely no. Him calling Wes that wasn’t frequent, so I guess I could let it slide. He had some really sweet and melt worthy moments, which were definitely my favorite in the book. 


  
    “I’d rip my fucking heart out and hand it to you if I could. If it’s what you need. If it would keep you where I need you to be.”

“There’s no end to what I’m willing to do to keep you with me. All you’ve got to do is come home and find out.”
  


He had a way with words.


  
    "You smell like a man,” Michael said roughly. “My man.” 
"I'm yours for as long as you'll have me," West admitted."

"I don't think you know what those words mean," Michael said, breathing heavily. "But, by God, you're going to learn."
  


Yyy, yes please. Besides, this man wanted to do anything for Wes, he was so sure about their relationship and keeping him. What anyone could possibly want more?

Wes character was fine, he was kinda cute and sweet. Throughout his life, his family and people in their town treated him gently because of his heart condition. That’s why he wanted to show them that he is not so delicate and started secretly participating in the rodeo. My problem was that he was so stubborn to do it, even though he didn't enjoy it too much, that his relationship with Michael almost collapsed at some point. That was my only issue with him, as overall he wasn't that bad. Him crushing on Michael did the job here. 


  
    "He wanted this man more than he wanted his next breath. There was a time he thought he’d go crazy with it. Maybe he already had."
  


We love obsessed men.


  
    "West pulled back, grabbed Michael’s wrist, and pressed his hand flat against his own chest. Right over the steady beat of his heart. “Feel that? I may have been born with only half a heart, but it’s all yours.”

“I love you,” Michael whispered, kissing him. “I love you so much that it fucking breaks me.” 
“Then I’ll be right here to hold you together,” West murmured,"
  


I've written this before in my review of the second book in the series, but I'm soo excited for Briar's book. He is paired with Wes's grumpy brother and they will be the ultimate grumpy/sunshine. I have a feeling I will love their book. At least I hope so. 

If you like friends to lovers, age-gap, small town romance, cowboys, gay guy secretly pinning for straight guy, ex-wife trope without any bullshit with him missing her, still loving her and blah blah blah, you will probably like it.
