Pashmina is an adorable tale about a young Indian-American girl who wants to figure out who she is, particularly as her mom is quite secretive about her past. She finds a magical scarf that helps her sort out some of her feelings, and she travels to India to meet some of her family. It's a pretty simple tale, though I am not sure that the magic scarf was necessary. The art is cute, but perhaps less polished than it could be. Good for younger readers!

Very much enjoyed this multi-cultural book about identity and sense of place. Breaks the stereotypes about Indian girls and provides a good story to boot.

A very sweet story about a young Indian girl named Priyanka, who is curious about her father and her Indian heritage. She finds a pashmina which seems to transport her to India. She learns that our hopes are not always reality and that the choices we make have an impact on us in ways we can't always know. I really enjoyed the story and the message in this graphic novel. I loved seeing an Indian character and her life, as I don't think this is a voice we hear very often in literature. The illustrations are beautiful and the colors are rich when Pri is transported to her "Pashmina India." I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys graphic novels and worldly voices.

I think I need to re-read this book. It's story was a little disconnected which made it confusing at some moments, and makes me wonder if a middle schooler (this is considered juvenile) would really even get the main point of the plot, much less the the subtler themes this book is trying to address. 

The art was beautiful, and typical of what I have seen in other juvenile graphic novels (which is one of the reasons I like reading them), and it's because of the art that I gave this book 4 stars instead of 3. Plus, I feel like, despite the weird, formulaic writing the story, in general, was interesting. Some of the family relationships could have been flushed out a bit more to make this story really wonderful.
