First Impressions
Bone Crossed is the fourth installment in the "Mercy Thompson" series and this is where we get a continuation of the story between Adam and Mercy, Mercy has decided to embrace Adam as her mate and working on adapting to working with the pack, but there are other factors that are coming into play that will put her life in danger by the vampires and other threats she won't imagine will happen. I really had a good time with this one, I do wish that was a bit more romance in these books, I understand it's UF but I just need a little bit more which is why these books probably won't get five stars from me. But my favorite moments from this book are whenever this couple is together. It has some great plot developments and once you really get into it, it will keep you engaged.
First Line
I stared at my reflection in the mirror.
The Main Protagonists
The Hero: Adam
The Heroine: Mercy
Summary
Adam is the alpha of his pack and is working on cementing his relationship with Mercy, a blue-collar heroine who works as a mechanic and is a coyote shifter. Mercy and Adam are in the beginnings of their relationship as mates and learning to adapt to new circumstances and threats. But when the vampires make a comeback for Mercy and want to destroy her, and Adam is in delicate negotiations, and Mercy will be brought into some political divisions within the vampire clan and a secret enemy that none of them will see coming...
What I Loved
The plot is the BEST part of this book. Although I do love the characters that come into play with this one here. But I really love the way that this author develops the plots. It just has such great build up to it and the dynamics as the characters get involved just balances it out so well. I loved seeing the moments with Adam and Mercy as they attempt to "date" lol I absolutely was endeared by their moments and the way that Mercy is all in for Adam. Adam is very patient with Mercy and respectful of who she is and what drives her. He doesn't get overbearing and I really admire that. The villain in this book was so creepy and made such a good villain, especially for this time of year. I honestly wasn't sure how he would be defeated but it ended up in a way that worked.
What I Struggled With
This book was a bit slower than some of the previous books. So this book took me almost a week to read it, unfortunately. This surprised me but since I had this is in audio and my eyes have really been struggling reading this week, just been super strained, I just wasn't that motivated to push through it. But once I got almost halfway I just didn't want to put it down. It just took a while to get to that point. Also as much as I love these two I just want them to have more moments together or working together on threats, and not being separated so much.
Narration
I really enjoy this narrator, it can start out slow, but she does a great job doing the voice for Mercy especially. She pulls you into the story just right.
Overall View
Bone Crossed was a thrilling installment that brings together the tenacity, the grit, and the raw love that is building between Adam and Mercy. It is a novel to knock a brutal punch of shocks and delights all the way through.

Steam/Spice Explanations
Simmering cup of tea---soft warm touches and light intimacy
Warmin' by the fire- a medium level of sexual tension, a balance of sexual and emotional intimacy, lighter on the details in the sexual moments.
Steamin' up the room -the sexual content is more explicit in the language and tone, heavier amount of sexual scenes.
Blazing fire to the building-The prime focus is the sex scenes, scorching hot, and could burn one. Less focus on the emotional intimacy to the relationship.

Rating: 4 This series gets better and better as you dive deeper into the series. It is becoming one of my favorite series to read. Mercy is also becoming my favorite character to read. In this book we see Mercy struggle in ways we have never seen before. I was so glad that Briggs portrayed the aftermath of Mercy's rape the way she did. I was nervous that Mercy was going to resume normalcy after what had happened, but I was very happy to see the representation of recovery. It broke my heart watching Mercy try to piece her life together. I also enjoyed Briggs' representation of how survivors of publicized rapes are treated by others in the community. I love Adam so much!! He is literally the love of my life. I love how much trust and faith he has in Mercy. He is always trying to be aware of his alpha tendencies and tries so hard to keep them at bay for her. I can't wait to see their relationship grow further. Stefan is one of my favorite characters and one I wished had more book time. I loved how this book focused around him and his own of vampire politics. I hated seeing Stefan suffer the way he did throughout this book. I really missed reading interactions between Stefan and Mercy. Their relationship is one of my favorites in the series. I did get more than a little irritated with how Mercy was treating Stefan in the beginning of the book. While I get that Stefan played a role in the murdering of two humans back, it was done so in order to protect Mercy. But, I may just be bias being as I love Stefan. Overall, I loved this book so much and I can't wait to continue in the series and read more about her world.

The fourth Mercy book keeps up the intense action and mystery packed pace of the first three. We learn more about the magical aspects of bonds between vampire and were's and how they affect Mercy as well as more about Walkers.

Summary: Mercy Thompson has a knack for getting herself in trouble. After ridding the world of a demon-possessed vampire and the vampire who made it, Mercy is trying to overcome the aftermath of rape. This has become more difficult when the Mistress of the vampire seethe finds out that Mercy killed the vampire who could create more demon-possessed. Now the Mistress wants her to pay and is using her family and friends to do it. Add to that the vampire of Spokane wants Mercy to himself. Seems like Mercy has stepped in it again! Overview: I love this series. It took me forever to get around to reading it and now that I've started I can not (and will not) stop! Mercy is such a strong female character and those are hard to find. Adam is simply delicious. Hot, alpha male, who knows when to step back and let a woman decide her next step. Where can I find that in real life? Needless to say I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys urban fantasy. Favorite Quotes: “That’s a pretty lame superhero name,” I told him. “Scooby-Doo is already taken,” he said with dignity. “Anything else sounds lame in comparison.” --Mercy and Stefan “People who know other people’s secrets can’t afford to do things that impair their ability to control their mouths.” --Mercy “Mercy?” “Just a minute,” I told Adam. “I'm in the middle of a revelation.” --Mercy and Adam “I give you Mercedes Athena Thompson, our newest member." Much awkwardness ensued. “Truth is without flourishes or manners and runs with a logic all its own.” --Adam

I love this series!!
