Medical science has been afraid to take the logic of the known physics of ECGs and MCGs to their inevitable conclusion. ECGs and MCGs are measured outside the body. This means that the heart’s biophysical energy and information travel throughout the body and reaches the outside of the skin. Heart sounds, another source of energy and information, also travel through the fluids and make their way to the outside of the skin. Now, what happens to all this measurable energy and information once it reaches the skin? Does it simply stop? Disappear? Is it to be ignored? Forgotten?

It is not likely that we will be able to understand all the forms of medicine in the world until we are willing to broaden our understanding of the world.2 By doing so, we may not have to select from among all the models of healing.

I have been welcomed by the kahuna—the healers of Hawaii—whose teachers speak of two-thousand-year-old lessons of “L” energy, cellular memory, and a thinking heart. I have met with Chinese physicians who are comfortable speaking about the body as a garden full of energy.4 I have spoken with Native Americans, the Inuit (Eskimos), and the Aborigine in Australia, all of whom seemed to wonder at the tardy appearance of Western science’s interest in what to them is simple common sense. As one Apache shaman told me, “Those in the Western world often forget that they too are indigenous peoples with roots to their original land and ties to their ancient ancestors’ wisdom. The modern rational brain can also learn to think with its indigenous spiritual heart.

This concern of the implanted heart and not the host’s body doing the rejection was reported by many of my patients and may be misunderstood by transplant professionals who see rejection only as a one-way issue and due solely to some biochemical reaction of the host rather than donor-host energy incompatibility.

To test the neodissociation theory, hypnotized subjects are asked to put their arms into icy water but are informed that they will feel no pain. Many obey, and when they do, they report none of the discomfort a nonhypnotized subject would immediately report. However, if asked to describe their feelings in writing, they indicate that they did in fact experience intense cold. Hit two pieces of wood near the ear of a hypnotized subject who has been told he is temporarily completely deaf and he will not respond. While he is still under hypnosis, ask him if he heard anything and he will respond “no,” his response to the hypnotist’s voice indicating that a part of his consciousness was still on the alert. Something inside these hypnotized persons seems to know they were cold while the body ignored it and seems to hear sounds that another part of consciousness did not.19 Cardio-energetics suggests that the heart may receive the info-energy of these events even as the brain itself yields to the illusion. In effect, the brain becomes hypnotized but the heart does not. 

He said, “Modern medicine is struggling with the fact that the form of energy the Chinese have known for centuries may in fact exist. Our mechanistic denial system is leaking. Every doctor and nurse has felt some version of it, we use techniques that seem to employ some form of it, and every patient I have talked with seems to know something about it. Anyone who has ever been sick knows how it feels when it is blocked or disrupted.”

While modern science emphasizes the importance of controlled studies, there is also a form of validity in the consistency and sincere endurance of reports from ancient cultures regarding the existence of a subtle life force. One of my Hawaiian teachers, a kahuna (or healer), said, “All healers know of the energy you are talking about. Our ancestors and their ancestors knew and taught of it. They called it “mana” coming from the “na’au,” or from your gut, and the pu’uwai, your heart. It is as real as the ocean, as powerful as the wind, and as infinite as the night sky.

White blood cells (leukocytes) scraped from the mouth of a volunteer were centrifuged and placed in a test tube. A probe from a recording polygraph—a lie (or emotion) detector—was then inserted in the tube. The donor of the cheek cells was seated in a room separate from his donated cells and shown a television program with many violent scenes. When the volunteer watched scenes of fighting and killing, the probe from the polygraph detected extreme excitation in the mouth cells even though they were in a room down the hall. Subsequent repeats of this experiment with donor and cells separated up to fifty miles and up to two days after donation of the cells showed the same results. 

While most of us seem to know in our heart that space and time are not limits to love, prayer, and caring, our brain insists on its privatizing of its existence and prefers to deal with forms of energy its technology can measure.
