El Alquimista

A special 25th anniversary edition of the extraordinary international bestseller, including a new Foreword by Paulo Coelho. Combining magic, mysticism, wisdom and wonder into an inspiring tale of self-discovery, The Alchemist has become a modern classic, selling millions of copies around the world and transforming the lives of countless readers across generations. Paulo Coelho's masterpiece tells the mystical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure. His quest will lead him to riches far different—and far more satisfying—than he ever imagined. Santiago's journey teaches us about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, of recognizing opportunity and learning to read the omens strewn along life's path, and, most importantly, to follow our dreams.

Ascolta il tuo cuore. Esso conosce tutte le cose.

Some great lines, but ultimately convenient and a bit hammy.

I understand the message the author is trying to convey and the first part was pretty good but as the book progresses, it just gets pretty much preachy and dumbed down upon you. The philosophy of 'if you have a dream you must chase it: either youd achieve it or the journey would be remarkable' is insanely right on your face and feels rather dumbed down to be frank. It may come in handy for someone who is searching for something in life, but as a piece of literature? I have my doubts, feels like the philosophy is being shoved in our throats rather than us trying to understand and intepret the book

Every few decades a book is published that changes the lives of its readers forever. This is such a book - a magical fable about learning to listen to your heart, read the omens strewn along life's path and, above, all follow your dreams.

Despite not being religious, the motivational sentiment is inspiring.

“It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting, he thought.”

Absolute classic.

Thoroughly hooked from start to finish.

Ok yeah I don’t really get the point of this book… cool that it’s based off an old folktale though? Easy read but… idk once you get to the ending it almost feels like everything was a waste

There were times that the book felt repetitive and somewhat shallow but it also contained a good amount of symbolism, magical philosophy, and simple life lessons that I think a person should always remember. An easy but good read.
