I understand the message the author is trying to convey and the first part was pretty good but as the book progresses, it just gets pretty much preachy and dumbed down upon you. The philosophy of 'if you have a dream you must chase it: either youd achieve it or the journey would be remarkable' is insanely right on your face and feels rather dumbed down to be frank. It may come in handy for someone who is searching for something in life, but as a piece of literature? I have my doubts, feels like the philosophy is being shoved in our throats rather than us trying to understand and intepret the book

HMMMM.......I don't know...<br />It felt super preachy and religious. I mean the whole plot was basically just god's plan for a person. It was interesting but not the best.<br />I didn't like the story.

Ok yeah I don’t really get the point of this book… cool that it’s based off an old folktale though? Easy read but… idk once you get to the ending it almost feels like everything was a waste

i adore the many references of islamic beliefs and it brought me really new perspectives of my own religion that i didnt even acknowledge.This book made me realize that even when our fates had already been written  its still a mystery, its like we still can choose our own decisions even when allah had written that already.Lately i have been really melancholic about decisions in life ,i was afraid to choose this or that im afraid option a had more disadvatages than option b etc,but then i read”let your heart guides you”it made me “awake”in some way,and now i know what i really want ,if its something i really want im sure god has already written the best decision for me and help me ,even when i end up with the decision i didnt want im sure god has better things coming ahead and im sure that was the decision that i “needed”.i know its a bit cliche but every person in the world has to read this 

 teaches me alot and made me realize many things about choices and letting your”heart”guides you it helps me so much even in my boring and a bit sorrow life i can find the teeny tiny bits of joy and acceptance with my life and i can get better

There were times that the book felt repetitive and somewhat shallow but it also contained a good amount of symbolism, magical philosophy, and simple life lessons that I think a person should always remember. An easy but good read. 

I very much enjoyed reading this book, it was an easy read, and it was something I definitely needed to hear at this time in my life. I'm 18 and have no idea where I'm going in life or what I'm doing, this book has inspired me to follow my dreams and never give up on them no matter what. I related deeply to this phrase "People are afraid to pursue their most important dreams, because they feel that they don’t deserve them, or that they’ll be unable to achieve them", I find this true in my case, I'm so afraid to go for what I want because I'm afraid of failure. I'm also so focused on the past and future that I forget the present; I forget to live and be in the moment. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone of any age especially if you're having a hard time in not knowing what to do and following what you want in life, it's a short and easy read. 

personally, i liked its symbolism and philosophical views, and if you know me, you’d understand how much i love any form of literature about dreams and destiny. however, it did feel repetitive at times, and i didn’t enjoy much of the final chapters, especially the ending.

A lot of words to say “follow your dreams.” I would have found it deep if I was younger, and maybe it is a beautiful read for youth. Now it just feels like platitudes and obvious truths.

for some reason i thought that ‘the alchemist’ was originally written in spanish, which motivated me to start learning the language so i could be able to read it in its “original” language. however it was an absolutely false assumption. paulo coelho is portuguese. i do thank him for this book though, it’s very dear to me, and as i said, my sole admiration for its story encouraged me to learn it’s … assumed language. either way it was a good read. every now and then i pick up the book for nostalgia. perfect book to read while you’re 16 years old.

Would've went super hard if I was still 16-17, but now it reads as a very preachy book. A charming but long winded way to say that dreams are worth following even if they seem impossible because either you will succeed or be fulfilled in the pursuit.
