i finished this yesterday and had to sit and think on my rating but this was so .. wild. i really enjoyed it and it def wasnt what i expected especially for something so short. the art was super cute too <3

I reserve the right to give five star ratings to books that utterly delight me even when I know they aren't incredibly, life-altering pieces. Exquisite Corpse is hilarious. Recently translated from French, this graphic novel tells us the story of Zoe, a young woman who is a loser. She works as a booth babe for trade shows (and hates every minute of it), has a terrible boyfriend, and is has never even walked into a book store. She's miserable, but has no idea what to do about this until she meets a mysterious man (and by meets, I mean injects herself forcibly into his life). Things are going swell until she discovers that her new beau is an author and his editor is his ex-wife! Even worse, the two of them have been pretending that he's been dead for several years!

Zoe is her beau's muse, but she quickly comes to realise he appreciates the praise and adoration he gets from writing more than he cares about other human beings, landing her back in a position of misery. Overall, this is a fun, giggle-worthy read that offers a lot of fluff and smiles. It's not very serious, certainly not full of morals or poignant explorations of the ennui faced by millennials, but I loved it never the less. Also, the art is wonderfully expressive and bold! If you need a good "beach read", grab Exquisite Corpse and revel in people being jerks in a highly amusing manner!
