Fire Night A Devil's Night Holiday Novella

We've seen the Devil's Night crew get spooky. Now, let's see them get into the spirit...The clock at St. Killian's chimes as whispers float in the dark staircase above. Snow falls from the black sky beyond the windows, and candles glow--the flames lighting up the longest night of the year. Devil's Night isn't the only holiday we celebrate. Tonight, we're pulling on different masks. Some call it Midwinter. Others call it Yule. We call it Fire Night. *Fire Night is a 28K word Devil's Night holiday novella suitable for readers 18+. It takes place the winter before the epilogue in Nightfall and is told from Kai's, Damon's, Will's, and Michael's points of view.

A normal novella of these couples? Say it ain’t so!
Of course, Will and Emmy had scraps in this, and the entire plot of their chapter was about the other characters. Shocker.
Shaking my head.
They always play second fiddle. Which is weird, because they have the best chemistry, in my eyes.
Alas, still a good read.

This novella lost points because I feel like it was a mediocre way to end such an amazing series. A let-down but still some great writing by Ms Douglas nonetheless. It was nice to revisit the perspectives of all the horsemen and see how far they've come across the series. This novella truly solidified my decision that Kai and Banks are the best couple and now their son is a borderline psychopath it makes it so much more intriguing. I'm going to have to scour the internet for some fan-fiction because I'm just not ready to leave this series behind.

A great novella to end off the series. I truely loved every single character. Michael and Rika! Kai and Banks! Winter and Damon! Will and Emory! All four couples own me and I am not mad about it. Also let’s just talked about Will and Damon for a second cause damnnn they’re the best ! I’m sad I’m finished now…

THIS SERIES WAS SO ADDICTIVE!! Going into this series i was a bit scared because i knew it was dark romance and i never know if i’m gonna like dark romance. But when i tell you i ate this shit up !!!!!!!

First off i loved this novella, i feel like it was a nice way to end the series and i really like like we lived a full life with these people because we really read about them growing up from young teenagers to adults with kids and a family. (I also loved the insight into the kids as well).

The character development for all the characters was ASTRONOMICAL i went from hating some of them to being OBSESSED by the end of the series.

My male main character ratings are:

1) Damon Torrance - He’s so funny, hot, smart just in female a really deep and entertaining character, he pretty much carried this series ok his back because without him the series would be nothing. Yes he did some questionable things but his redemption arc was amazing and i just love him sm. I’m quite ashamed that he’s my favourite, but i can’t help it i just have the weridest obsession with him 😭

2) (a very close 2nd) is Will Grayson lll - He’s also super funny and hot. Just Damon was entertaining throughout the series where as Will only really shone mainly in his own book. I love his relationship with Emory and i just wish we got more of it.

3) Kai mf Mori - What a king honestly, the only reason he’s 3rd is because i liked him in every book but his own. I just really didn’t enjoy reading hideaway, idk. He’s probably the most boring but i respect him all the same.

4) Michael Christ - …. idkkkk i just wasn’t getting good vibes from him tbh, like he really wasn’t doing it for me. He was just wayyy too full of himself and thought he was better than everyone else but he’s probably the biggest pussy of them all (women included).

My female main character ratings are:

(TBH i love them all, they’re all my number 1 so i wouldn’t take these rating too seriously cause they’re all on the same level for me)

1) Erika Fane - My QUEEN!! I fuckin love this girl, she’s funny, bold, ambitious and powerful. She’s self made and went through such a tough time and mainly because of the people she later called family. She’s my idol honestly and i wanna be her one day <3

2) Emory Scott - I really resonated with her and understood why she did the things she did and i’m glad they forgave her cause i woulda thrown hands if they didn’t!!! She really had Will in a CHOKEHOLD like omfg😭 Had that mf obsessed for yearssss and tbh i get why he would be

3) Nikova Banks - I honestly love her sm. She’s so mf good that her raging misogynist of a dad put her as the heir in his will over Damon. Queen shit honestly. Despite having a tough upbringing she always tried her hardest and never ever gave up and i respect her sm <3333

4) Winter Ashby - Now … she is a teensy but below the other but only because of one certain thung she said to Damon that was Sooooooo out of line “you shouldn’t of killed her because she’s the only one that’ll ever love you and want to toich you” that i’m sorry but that’s too far man. But anyways she’s still super strong and doesn’t let her being blind hold her back despite her family never being supportive of it. You have to have strong will to be in a relationship with Damon and she really did hold her own, possibly better than any of the others when it came to defending against the love interest.

4) Alex - She really postponed off this whole series and definitely doesn’t get enough hype because she’s a bad bitch. She always did what needed to be done and despite life always trying to get her down she just kept going and i respect it. She was so charismatic and i always loved reading about her <3

My non couple duos are:

1) Damon & Will - I mean, obviously, love them both lots and lots and love when they’re together

2) Damon & Emory - He was kinda like the older brother she never had. I feel like they really connected through their trauma and knew how to help each other. Also Damon was pretty the only one to stick up for her on the train.

3) Damon and Banks - the OGs, Damon really did try his best with her growing up but all he knew was the awful awful example his parents set and he was only a year older than banks and a kid himself. Although neither of them deserved the upbringing they got, they both always tried their best.

4) Damon and Erika - In kill switch these two popped tf off and you can’t tell me otherwise, they’re a POWER DUO

( can you see a theme in these 😭😭)

The spice in all the book was ✨immaculate✨ except maybe hideaway. Although any scrap of innocence i had left was taken away by this book and i definitely read about some of the stuff in this books for the first time 🫢

The plot in all the books was sooooo good and enjoyable to read

They all (expect hideaway) kept me in suspense and on the edge of my seat the ENTIRE books and i loved every minute of reading them <3

I really MOURNED all these characters because i really did feel like we lived a whole life with them and now i’m supposed to let them go ??? It really does feel like we’ve watched their whole lives and now they’re gone … I’m gonna miss them

I felt like i was transported to different world while reading this series tbh

All in all i think this series was so well written and i’m gonna be thinking about this series and these characters for a long time after reading

Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5

2⭐️ Eh. There’s nothing excessively bad about this one but there’s also nothing that good. Liked the epilogue.

After barely getting any quality scenes with the other characters in Nightfall, it was fun to see the Horsemen and their ladies one last time. Michael and Will's chapters were frankly useless as they didn't focus much on the couples themselves, but I really enjoyed Kai and Damon's chapters and the glimpse at their family, especially with how central to the novella's plot Octavia (Damon's daughter) and Mads (Kai's son) were.

With all the action of this novella (and the epilogue of Nightfall) this had all the feeling of a teaser for things to come, so I was expecting to find an announcement for a spin-off series. Seems like there won't be, so as much as this was a cute goodbye, I don't really see the point of this novella.

5/5 Amazing Fire Night (Devil’s Night 4.5) by Penelope Douglas was the sweetest surprise novella. . Loved being back in The Devil’s Night world. Once again I was carried away in the beautiful background settings. Reading about the sexy Four Masked Horsemen and their families was such a delight. Written in Kai, Damon, Will and Michaels POV flowed perfectly. I loved the holiday traditions. The epilogue is so good and I hope in future will continue with the kids.

kai & banks still my favorite couple/their parts are always the most interesting to read about lmao. besides kai’s pov, the climax of the plot, & the epilogue I mainly skimmed the novella. this story occurs after the series so imma just get into *SPOILERS*. um Mads uhhhhh lmao 😬… the ripping out the eye thing did remind me of Kaz Brekker 🤭 the epilogue was one of the most interesting parts of the novella for me, that RARELY happens for me. I would definitely read a novel from Mads pov, just to be able to see how he thinks/understand him better. EW about how Mads was eyeing Octavia though. that better be brotherly affection sir 😭

**Slight spoilers for Nightfall** Penelope Douglas has given us some Devil's Night bonus content right in time for the holidays! This is a quick holiday novella told in all four horsemen's POVs (with a bonus POV for the epilogue!), set around almost a year before the epilogue in Nightfall. So Michael, Rika, Kai, Banks, Damon, Winter, Will, and Emmy are all grown up their children! Fire Night is a new holiday tradition for our four families and I have to say I was so happy to be back in Thunder Bay, but this time experiencing something a little different than Devil’s Night! Snowy/winter vibes, check. A party with presents? Check. Am I starting off my 2020 holiday tbr with this novella? Also check. Of course, it’s not a DN story without some action and suspense, but I was surprised by what was packed into this short novella. There are quite a few things going on in this story and the end does leave you wanting more. I love this series and I love these characters!! I can never get enough of them so this novella made me so happy. And I’m not saying Penelope Douglas HAS to write a second gen spinoff (there are actually way too many kids and I wouldn’t want to get everyone’s stories lmao) BUT from what we get in the epilogue, there is sooo much potential for that kid to get their story!!! 👀 But whatever PD has in store for us next, you KNOW I’ll be reading it! *** I... got an ARC. AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
