This book is like junk food. Like really bad junk food. Super easy to read and get into but not like too memorable. 
When people say this book is dark, they mean *dark*. Huuuuge trigger warning for rape. It's described or talked about on nearly every page. 
Despite this, the book was compelling enough that I finished it in basically a day and I'm intrigued enough to continue the series. 

*** BONUS BOOK INCLUDED: MUSE IN LINGERIE *** I've started a blood war. And made a terrifying enemy. Over a single woman. It was a stupid decision, but I don't have any regrets. Because Bellissimo is finally mine.

Buttons and Grace (Buttons #6)

This book didn't have any action in it. I don't think I would consider books 4-6 as dark romance. It seems like they got super soft. Although, I don't consider this book dark romance, I did enjoy it.



It was a great ending to this series. I just feel like it was drug out. This book could have ended in Buttons & Blame. There was really no need for this sixth book. 



I hated the fact that Adelina didn't seem to appreciate what Cane has done for her. She praised Crow and Pearl, basically leaving Cane in the dirt. Like he didn't do anything. I really wanted to fight her in this book.



But other than that, I enjoyed how this book played out. I like that she went to America to find out life wouldn't be the same on her own. I love that Cane went to take her on a date. AKA, made her realize that she belongs in Italy with him. 



This book was more on the emotional side. You see Cane go through the struggles of not having Adelina with him. You even get pretty awesome epilogues and see babies. Uh, yes. I needed that. 



I do think I'll pick up some more books by Penelope Sky in the future, just maybe not in the near future.

4/5 Stars. I can't tell if I liked this one more or the first one. The first one had more action than this one. Which I think does make it better. PS waited until like the last minute for any kind of action and left off with a cliff hanger.

I really enjoyed this book. It had the right amount of steam and just enough pain. I love it when dark romance focuses on just the pain. We like the lovey-dovey parts too!

Buttons & Hate was mostly about Pearl and Crow finding their love together. Even though Crow swears up and down that he doesn't love her. Their relationship really blossoms in this book. They go from master and slave to two people who can't stand to be without each other. 

I just wish PS gave us more action instead of giving us more reasons to hate Cane. I wanted more fights and more killing. I wish their revenge started earlier. I just really hope the PS executes everything really well in the next book.

I don't think I could love Crow more than I do. I feel for him deeply. He's so scared to love and it hurts my heart. He's so strong and he doesn't even realize it. I can't even begin to believe that he doesn't think he's in love with Button. I just can't wait for the moment he pours his heart out to her.

Button is just getting better. She's grown to love Crow and will do anything to try and stay with him. That is, until he doesn't reciprocate her feelings towards him. She learns to protect her heart. And she becomes pretty bad ass. I can't wait to see what she does to Bones.

Writing Style: ☆☆☆☆
I absolutely love the two perspectives. I don't know what I would do if I didn't know what was going through both of their heads. PS's writing is so easy to read and you'll be so absorbed in that you won't want to put it down.

Buttons and Blame (Buttons #5)

Buttons and Blame continues where Buttons and Shame left off. I love how these books mesh together. There is no time gap in between books. It's just bam bam bam. Almost like one book separated into six. I really love that there are no time gaps. Thank you Penelope for not leaving blank time spaces.



In this book, Cane is falling for Adelina. He refuses to show it and he refuses to acknowledge it. He still plans on giving her back to Tristan, equipped with the cyanide pills. I love watching their relationship blossom. It's beautiful that she can trust Cane after what Tristan and his goons have done to her.



What I don't love, which I'm sure everyone else does, is Crow and Pearl's point of views. I loved the books about them. But this isn't really about them anymore. We shouldn't get their POVs anymore. Just Cane and Adelina's. I do enjoy how their story is going, but these three books are supposed to be about Cane and Adelina. Why do we need four POVs?



This book made up for the action we didn't get in Buttons and Shame. We get to see Cane's emotional turmoil over taking Adelina back to Tristan. We get to see him decide to get her back. We get to see the action. The kills. It's amazing. We get that dark part of this romance. 



I do like that this book is left off with a cliff hanger. You're literally at the very edge of the cliff with this one. Like, wtf. I need to know what happens ASAP. Luckily for me, I have the last book in this series and so I do not have to wait to find out.



So many things happened in this book and I loved it. It was much better than Buttons and Shame. I have higher hopes for how this series will end now.

4/5 Stars. I basically read this book in one sitting. I was captivated by this book. There's just something about dark romances that I'm obsessed with. I couldn't put this book down and I can't wait to stick my nose into the next one.

I'm not going to lie, this book is very similar to Tears Of Tess, but I think that's why I loved this book so much. I finally found a dark romance that's close to what I already love.

Seeing as this book is similar to my all-time favorite series, I love the plot. 

Pearl, aka Button, gets kidnapped and sold into sexual slavery. She's sold to a monster called Bones. She's made to do despicable things with him. That is, until she's "saved" by Crow. Crow is almost like Bones, but better.

Obviously, they have more attraction to each other or there wouldn't be a story.

Character Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆
I love Pearl. She's such a strong character and she won't let anyone break her. I love that there's such a strong main character. And I love that even though her body's been through so much, she's able to find such enjoyment with Crow.

Crow is the just the person that she needs. He's definitely hiding something and I'm eager to find out what it is. I can't wait to see his character grow to love Button.

I hate his brother though. Cane is such a douche and I really hope either Button or Crow kills him off. 

Writing Style: ☆☆☆☆
This is my first book I've read by PS and I really enjoyed her writing style. It was so easy to read and I never got lost or confused once. Her writing is captivating. She really knows how to keep you drawn to the book!

Tristan is one of my biggest clients. He always pays on time, and he always keeps his word.But this time, he's short on cash. He needs the shipment now, so he offers me collateral.He loans me his slave.Adelina.Now that Pearl and I are so close, I can't condone this type of exchange. It's wrong.Inhumane.But she wants me. I can tell.And I definitely want her.*Buttons and Shame is told from Cane's point of view, but Crow and Pearl have their own POV's to develop the overall story**

Buttons and Shame

This book has taken the series into a different direction. Instead of following Pearl and Crow, we are now following Cane (Crow's brother) and Adelina. Adelina is a woman who was trafficked and used as a substitute for some money until Tristan was able to come up with the rest of the cash.

I do have to say that I like Cane more than I like Crow. He seems softer. More lovable. This book definitely wasn't as dark as the first three and I think I really like that. I just unfortunately didn't love it as much as the first three.

There was not a lot of action. No killing. No blood. I really felt like something should have happened in this book. Especially when Pearl goes to visit Tristan without any supervision. That was a missed opportunity to get some action in. All she did was elbow a dude. Boring. 

I wanted to give this book a higher rating. I just found it boring at times. There was no fighting. Blah blah blah.

I really can't wait to see what happens in the next book. I really hope they figure out a way to save Adelina because I want her and Cane to get married and be happy together. 

I also really hope the action picks up. Because I like the dark part of these books. I like the violence. There wasn't any in this one.

The continuing story of Pearl and Crow's relationship, after Pearl escapes to New York City and believes that Crow has forgotten about her.

4/5 Stars. This was an exciting end to Button and Crow's story. I'm just a little upset that the series does continue, but not with them. I really enjoyed their story and I want it to continue. 

This book is packed with steam and action. It's also filled with love. Yes, love. It's finally here and it goes as far as it can. 

I really didn't want to put this book down at all. I was dying to see how everything played out. I must say, I wasn't disappointed.

This series has gotten better with every book. I was entranced from the beginning. I just cannot put into words how much I love dark romances like this one. 

I definitely plan on picking up the next three books in the future. Just not anytime soon since it's technically a different story. 

Buttons & Pain follows Pearl as she's leading her new life in New York. That is, until Crow comes back to claim her once again. Like the crazy fool she is, she doesn't go back to Italy with him. Which means, someone else comes to collect her.

Bones. 

This last book is filled with love. Filled with blood. Filled with death. It's an amazing read. 

That epilogue at the end was everything I could have wanted for the Barsetti family. It was something I didn't know I needed for the end of this series.

Crow's stubbornness really got on my nerves in this book. If he just admitted to himself how he really felt about Button, she would have been safe. He drove me absolutely bonkers. 

I think all the characters grew in this book. Everyone learned something new and they all learned to love each other. 

Romance Rating: ☆☆☆☆
I just realized that I didn't do a romance rating for the other two books. Oops. 

I loved Crow and Pearl's romance throughout the books. It grew into something so beautiful. It was a magnificent love story to fall in love with.

It had the right amount of steam. PS didn't take it overboard. She didn't just load the books with sex. She made sure there was love and emotion. 

Writing Style: ☆☆☆☆
I have really enjoyed PS's writing style. I will most definitely be picking up more of her books in the future. 

Her writing is so easy to read and get sucked in to. I love that she alternates perspectives between Pearl and Crow. I just love everything she did with this story.
