Fable of Happiness Book One
Reviews

I received the audiobook for this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Holy shit!! This book was such a complete surprise to me. I honestly shouldn't be so shocked because it's Pepper Winters, but here I am. I’ve just got to say you have to go into this book as blind as a bat. I did and I could be more thankful. I loved the story, I thought it was quite unique, engaging and really kept me on my toes. I had no clue how things were going to turn out and that ending really got me. The audio for this book was absolutely phenomenal. I loved the dual narration. I’m about 99% sure that this is my first time ever listening to both narrators, Tor Thom and Charley Ongel. They did such a great job with this book and really kept me engaged the entire time. Make sure you check out the triggers before you read this book. It’s pretty dark and won't be suitable for all readers, but it sure is for me! I can't wait to read/listen to book two. I need to know what happens. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

3 stars ⭐️ This was way too long for what it was. And please don’t read this without checking TW bc it’s intense. Idk what it is about this book, some parts are so stupid and repetitive but I legit cannot put it down? Like the story got so old by the 65% mark but I kept reading lmfao 😭

“I’d thought my homesickness crippled me but it was nothing compared to his. A homesickness he couldn’t even decipher because he had no home, no family, no one. He only had emptiness...and a mind full of evil.” Kass and Gemma seem to be at a crossroads. In her mind she is still in flight mode, but the surrounding aura that is Kass - she can’t help but be pulled into his mind; his own personal hell. “Fable of Happiness” book two - picks up where it left off and gives us the harsh reality of where it leaves Kass and Gemma. We see the effects of the lack of much needed medical attention come into play, with the fact that Kass is no longer able to suppress the deep seated pain, hate and anguish he has from his past .. and we spend a great chunk of this story on his recovery, and the long term effects that it is now having on not just him, but Gemma. Having dual POV has been earth shattering, especially in this book, because you see the fine line Gemma has been walking alongside Kass. She is beginning to understand Kass in a much more emotionally charged way, and in turn has developed feelings for him. While he fights to escape himself, she is fighting for him.. but will it be enough? This book pulled on my heartstrings. As a person that dealt with a severe concussion recently - this was spot on. I felt connected in a way that I hadn’t before, and to understand Kass’ feelings had me resonating with this part of his story so much more. Gemma is the balm that soothes Kass - but he has to be willing to overcome, in order to truly heal. TW// non-con
