Re-reading the first trilogy in anticipation of the third movie.

My favorite of the first three, which are the ones I read.

The setting is expanded with the Bene Tleilax, their Gholas and further details on other factions and the workings of the universe.

The various plots are intricate and intersect in interesting ways without feeling too forced.

There are elegant explanations on why Paul is not an all-seeing god and why he can't exactly predict everything, which make his character interesting. He ends the first book being seen as a god by the Fremen and without some limitations to his powers he would be a dull character to follow.

Moreover, his search of the narrow path and his tries to minimize the destructive effect of his jihad are very interesting. His rejection of the role of a messiah and his insistence on not becoming a god are also very interesting and different from most popular books with similar all powerful, good, main characters.

The first two movies have been great adaptions with their own interpretations of this universe. I am very curious how this book will be translated on screen, specially Chani's role in it given her adversarial character in the previous movie.

John Dune truly outdid himself with this one. I barely even noticed the lack of action due to the unbelievable philosophy within
