My Teacher Is a Monster! (No, I Am Not.)

Funny and profound

** spoiler alert ** Monster is in the eye of the beholder. A stinker in class, Bobby likes to throw paper airplanes and thinks his classroom teacher Miss Kirby is a monster when she tells him to stop. Depicted as a real monster in the classroom, Bobby is certain he's got Miss Kirby figured out. Then one day he runs into Miss Kirby sitting on a park bench just like a regular person. Awkward! The two antagonists eye each other until her hat blows away and suddenly Bobby and Miss Kirby find themselves working together to get her hat back. As Miss Kirby becomes less monster-ish, Bobby becomes more curious about his teacher and his teacher enjoys Bobby more and they share a lovely afternoon together culminating in the best paper airplane launch ever! Nice. My son, 7, had a bit of an issue seeing the monster teacher morph into a young woman, so a careful re-telling and summarizing of the story helped him see that the monster was all in Bobby's eyes.

This was such a delightful little read!
