This one had some pretty great gruesomely descriptive horror scenes. Some of the beat I've read so far, in fact. This could have been a 4 or 4.5 if it wasn’t so damn repetitive and the ending was not so meh. The same sequences occurred to 4-5 different characters, which had me thinking “ok we get it” more than a couple of times. The end was very underwhelming - the slaying of the dragon was really odd, too easy, and to be honest Straub didn’t make me hate the antagonist enough to really care what would happen. This book could have probably been 150 pages shorter with the same or bigger impact. There was a lot of potential here but just repetitive and a bit spread thin for me.
