Eight Perfect Murders
Reviews

I really, really loved the concept of this book. A killer following a list of crime books compiled by a bookseller to commit Eight Perfect Murders. It sounds genius, i mean it is kind of smart, the beginning of the book got me hooked and i loved the idea of it but like,,,, i knew who the killer was like not even halfway through the book?? So it was pretty predictable and what the hell was that ENDING. (view spoiler)[ Malcom just drowns himself??? Like okay i get it you are finishing the eight perfect murders BUT I GOR SO ANNOYED I DIDNT WANT IT TO END LIKE THIS and why the hell is it even a series (hide spoiler)]

Malcom Kershaw leads a quiet life as the owner of a small bookstore in Boston. Until the FBI shows up to investigate a string of murders that seem related to a blog post of eight perfect book murders he once wrote. This book was atmospheric, Mal was a great character, and the pacing worked well. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a fun read that was as much a love letter to classic thrillers as it was a thriller itself.

I don't read mystery novels very often (I think the only other one I've read is And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie but don't quote me on that) but I must say that I'm slowly getting into it! Although some parts of the intrigue weren't shocking to me and I guessed another few, this read was quite enjoyable! The characters had layers (they're like onions) and depth, and I really liked that! I borrowed the audiobook from my local library, which wasn't too bad, but I really think it would have been a more enjoyable experience had I read it instead... Overall, I would definitely read more books by Peter Swanson!
