4.5 rounded up. Loved it so much, the ending was not what I thought it would be, nor was it technically what I wanted, but I still really liked it. :)

positives first: i loved how unapologetically whipped stephanie is for the men in the story, it's nice to see for some reason, younger me felt very represented. 
now the bad parts: this is generally not a good adaptation of pto. the set up is odd, the characters don't translate well (ms geary just disappears into the bg, one of the only  women with agency in the original), the only song they play is fur elise which i find incredibly depressing. like, play some bach or tchaikovsky, fur elise is overdone. the middle part drags on for too long, and a lot of the universe rules/ lore is left unexplained— way too much exposition and lore. also she fcked a ghost in her dream world? corpse?? ghost corpse?? also, the ending- will he age with her as she grows old or just stay 18 forever???? 
overall, felt like a fanfic. maybe if i were younger i'd have appreciated this more.

I absolutely love Kelly Creagh's books. This one doesn't fail either, with great imagery and characters you can't help but to love. Her stories sweep you away and leave you guessing at every turn. I couldn't put this down and finished it within a day. I definitely recommend giving it a go.

A brilliant gothic retelling of Phantom of the opera. Although I'll admir I have never seen it, I was really I trigger.
From the first page I was pulled in and was until the very end.
One thing I loved most is how you could tell the different point of views from our main characters Stephanie and Eric by the way they both thought and spoke. The Author did an outstanding job at making the characters unique.
The plot for this was so engaging and It was brilliant, I couldn't get enough....I felt the Authir did a really good job at how it all unraveled.
I will say this book is compared to twilight but it's nothing like twilight (bare in mind I've never read the books, only seen the movie) for me though I'm glad. 
I've heard there will be a sequal and honestly I don't get why, it's all wrapped up and although I can see where a sequal could happen I feel this book would be perfect as a standalone, I worry a sequal could ruin it.
I struggled with giving this one a four or five stars
(Personaly 3 and up is a good rating) in the end I settled on a four just because we got one person's pov on the last chapter when I would have preferred to have one of the others, but that being said this was a brilliant story with excellent characters

I knew this book would be great as it is from one of my favorite authors (ever). But did I predict just HOW good? Nope! It was so amazing! 

✨Imagery

Kelly Creagh is just so AMAZING at creating beautiful scenery and a stunning atmosphere. Are you looking for the perfect spooky season? Here it is, set in fall with a gothic setting. Full of haunted houses and plenty of wickedness.

I absolutely loved to see how she incorporated the scenes from the 2004 movie into it without it being obvious or cheesy. It was all done in such an original way. The whole story was so beautiful and perfect for those who havent heard a lick of The Phantom of The Opera and even more so for those who have!

✨ Characters

Immediately you get hooked on these characters. They are a wild bunch and so funny and loveable that you care for them all from the very start. 

Stephanie - What a gorgeous MC! I absolutely loved everything about her from her bravery, snark, and huge heart. 

Lucas - Oh Lucas. Just a great love interest with a quirky sense of style. He is so sweet and so charming at the same time.

Charlie - CHARLIE! The little sister I've always wanted! She sounds so adorable and I just want to hug her tight! It isn't often that Authors can do a child character right but Kelly always knows how to install that sibling love in you.

Now for my favorites✨ 

Zedok - Immediately you get the sense that he's dangerous. And truly he is. You can tell there is ALWAYS some internal struggle within him and you're never sure what he's going to do.

Erik - Wow. Erik is charming and such a kind soul. You can feel his pain, his suffering and you just can't help but to feel for him. 

✨Plot

Wow. Can I just say WOW. It is difficult for a book to be both spectacular at character AND plot development and Phantom Heart truly did amazing with both. The plot is so dark and twisty and the more it goes on the more you feel everything spiraling downward to beautiful chaos. Again the vivid descriptions of everything just brings it all to life. The story gets darker and darker. Not in a gruesome way but in the sense of mood. 

I swear I was breathing so hard as I got closer to the end. 

I just want to thank Kelly Creagh for this beautiful story with a love triangle well done and an ending I will never get over. As a lover of The Phantom of The Opera, this was amazing. Again this book is also perfect for anyone who has never seen or read TPOTO! I will definitely be rereading it soon. And I know this review doesn't truly give it's beauty justice.
