This was unlike any play I've ever read and I'm not quite sure what to think about it yet.
I liked it, and I found some parts funny, but I'm still processing how I'm feeling about it overall. I didn't find it as powerful and maybe life-altering as I feel like most people did, but I also feel like watching this performed would have been an ENTIRELY different experience. One I wish I could've had.
I'm not sure if I liked the character of Fleabag, but I'm also not sure if that's the point? She felt so real and was kind of awful but you want to get to know her. I don't know if I just didn't mesh well with the humor, but my favorite parts were the really raw, honest little monologues she had. The one about feminism and the one at the very end about her views on sex, really show how broken this character feels she is. I got to the end though and kind of went, "that's it?!" I definitely felt like we needed more. Either way, I'm SO glad I read this edition; the interview at the end with the director and writer was so wonderful to read, and it was so beautiful seeing how much these people cared about this story. I loved the photos in this edition as well! I still want to watch the show, and while this wasn't as hilarious as I'd hoped, I'm still glad I read it!

i was expecting more commentary and insights on how the script, the moments and some select scenes but what i got was underwhelming little bit of notes at the end. i mean it's fine of course, the scripts themselves stood on their own but still i want! more!

wow..surprised by how heartbroken this play left me at the end.

Seeing Fleabag's life slowly fall apart with the dark humor scattered throughout was interesting. The way this play managed to capture the isolated sibling dynamic, the evasive, guilt-ridden complexes of a character trying to run away from reality, and the manic feeling of utilizing sex to cope with trauma.

Well done and gave me a lot to think about.

i admit, i have not yet seen the tv show. however, through cultural osmosis alone i could see its impact on contemporary british literature (written by white women, in particular) - or at least i suspected so.

in that regard, it was interesting to see the beginnings of a cultural phenomenon. i understand why all the girls want to be her so bad. but unlike its many progenitors, fleabag is witty and morbidly funny and, above all, moving. there is just something very earnest about it.

Hace poco termine la serie y me pareció súper interesante leer la obra original. No es fácil leer el guiones directo si no están acostumbrados, pero creo que este transmite bien todo, además de que no es muy extenso.

Fleabag is one of the best things I have read this year. (Also the tv show is brilliant!)

(I would recommend watching the first season BEFORE you read this however. Because the show takes more time to build things up and the tension is all gone if you’ve read the play already. The play then adds some things that will still keep it fresh and new and exciting but still - watch the Amazon Prime Show (or BBC show/DVD) first and THEN read the play.
 
Everyone should read this. The writing is witty and crass and hilarious and honest and vulgar and beautiful.

I would give a lot to see Phoebe Waller-Bridge perform this play live. A LOT.

Brilliant. Abso-*ucking-lutely brilliant.
