I heard about this book through an interview which Scott, the author, had with one the news organizations. His idea of of "saving the people, not the corporations" hit home with me. This idea is currently in practice in Norway, where I live, and I never processed it how important this way handling a pandemic is. I got interested and read the book.

I my opinion, author could have taken some time before writing this book. The book was written in August 2020 and I read the book in April 2021. Some parts of the book had a vibe suited for summer 2020 an you can feel it is "old" even though the book is not even out for a year. But this is obviously the nature of the time we are living in. The book could have written a bit later, but I can understand the author wanted to "get" his ideas out for them to be useful and effective in real world. 

I had some highs and lows with the book. The beginning of the book is really interesting. It gives more detailed account of the short pitch the author gives to news outlet and it was refreshing to hear them. However, I was not interested to hear how different corporation are likely to do well in the pandemic, which was part of third chapter of the book. It might be an effect of being an international reader who doesn't care about the stock market, but I was not interested in that part. In addition, the author started talking about some business terms that I wasn't familiar with and was not defined so it got very technical for me.

The most interesting chapter of the book was the last chapter. The way the future is going to be shaped in the world is going to be affected by the US and sadly enough the case of the US is a good case of what NOT to do. So it was interesting to hear from a business expert how unsuitable and inefficient the structure of the US economy and political structure is.

I give the book 4 stars for the part in middle where it got "too narrow". Apart from that, the book was interesting and the author have a lot good ideas. Recommended!

If you listen to Pivot or Prof. G show you know all the contents of this book. That being said, it’s nice to have all of Scotts ideas, predictions, and rants in one place with a coherent narrative. 

Also, impossible not to read in his voice.

I enjoy Scott Galloway (see Pivot podcast) and his takes on business, technology, and innovation. This book is a summation of his key theories and ideas, wrapped in the context of the pandemic. Some of these ideas are vital concepts for our new world in 2021, like The Great Dispersion of movies, workers, and retail workers to the home. His point of view on the necessary changes for academia is urgent and spot on. Other ideas, like his take on The Four (Apple, Amazon, Facebook and Google) are remixes of earlier works, re-gifted around the urgency of the pandemic, but still fascinating nonetheless.
