This might be my favorite PLL book! It was so fun to get to read about the girls on their own. It was like four little short stories that contained awesome glimpses into the girls lives. I really hope some of the events mentioned get brought back up in later books!

“Pretty Little Secrets” is a companion novel to the Pretty Little Liars series written by Sara Shepard. The book takes place between books four and five. The book is divided in four parts, each one belonging to one of the girls. It’s Christmas at Rosewood and our four pretty little liars are finally able to be relax. Ali’s murderer is behind bars; moreover, their stalker, A, who turned out to be Mona, was dead. Nonetheless, our four girls are unable to stay out of trouble. Hanna’s problems with foof and insecurity come back when her brand new boyfriend goes on vacation. Emily is on look for new friends, however she seems to found them on the wrong place. Aria’s broken heart will make her take the wrong decisions when an old love came to scene. Not forgetting Spencer, who will learn the bad way that her relationship with her sister is in the same place as ever. Pretty Little Secrets was a nail-biting exciting book. Each part was preceded by an introduction written and signed by A, a brand new A. These introductions gave the book a creepy and spooky sense. Also, all parts ended in a happy Christmas “kind-of” ending, which became creepy when A comments them. I specially enjoyed Aria’s part, as in my opinion it showed a more crazy and unexpected side of Aria. I enjoyed Spencer’s little secret as well. On it we can see how much Spencer wants her relationship with her sister, Melisa, to work out. Nevertheless, I missed a connection between all the stories. They mention something about other of the girls, however, not always. The positive part is that we were able to know the girls a bit better. My personal belief is that it was sad how every of the girls seemed so lonely, as if the only good friend they had was Ali. In addition I found disappointing that Ezra didn’t appeared, as I liked how Aria and him looked together. In conclusion, Pretty Little Secrets was a creepy still awesome book. It was the perfect introduction to a new part of this thrilling series. I really recommend it to anyone that liked the previous ones and you keep wanting more.

Blog | Twitter | Instagram Next up on my Christmas friendly list of recommendations and reviews is a collection of holiday stories set in the Pretty Little Liars universe, planted between the first A arch and the second. It’s Christmas time in Rosewood and our girls are up to a lot . Sara Shepard brings us four short stories, one for each of our liars, and shows us just what the girls were up to between gaps in time. “But what’s the point of it?” it serves no real substance to any plots in the future of the series. Here’s the thing, kids: it’s just a collection of holiday stories. Short stories set in the winter, in between the darkness that they face. It is meant to give us a glimpse of what they are like when A is only in the shadows and Sara succeeds at that. It’s cute. You don’t have to read it if you don’t want to, you won’t get lost if you choose not to. But it’s still fun for the holidays! That’s all you need to know, really. Think about that time you wrote a fluffy fanfiction about your OTP, or a subplot to a story you were working on or something that just was for fun and enjoyable. That’s essentially what that is. A little treat in between timelines to lighten the load. It does its job and is just a treat for longtime readers. When I heard about this little guy–I was surprisingly oblivious towards it for at least a year and I only found out about it because it was only $3 at BAM in the bargain bin–I did a little embarrassing happy dance in the bookstore. No, don’t look at me like that, I’m not embellishing. I really did do a little jig. Which, yes, lead to some interesting looks from workers and customers alike. And yes, I’m surprised I didn’t get more weird looks from others. And triple yes, it was probably more than embarrassing but I had absolutely no control over myself. I couldn’t resist. My thoughts were something like: “Christmas time with the liars? Sign. Me. Up.” Am I right, or am I right? Sara, just take my money already. Continued @ BOOKEDJ.
