Black Butterflies

Srijita Sarkar

There’s a desire for it to consume, for whatever is beyond the edges of the canvas to drop away.

Tending to her own needs for a while is a form of bliss.

Back when she felt that the world would fall apart if she wasn’t with him, that she didn’t have a centre without him, and that only he could understand her.

‘Burnt fragments of poetry and art catching in people’s hair.’

An embodiment of art overcoming the destruction of war.

I really liked this one, about Zora, the strong main character. It was thoughtful and created an atmosphere of the Bosnian war.
