Promises and Pomegranates Monsters & Muses Book One
Reviews

The first 100 pages (+ prequel) were amazing! After that it got very boring. I think the characters are well written but the plot was lacking.

Didn't find the storyline great, Didn't keep me engaged

ugh i pissed it left on a cliffhanger!!! i need more!!!

God this book was absolutely fantastic. Such a fast paced book but at the same time so perfectly drug out. Very original, unlike any other book live read so far. Can’t wait to finish this series!!

definitely uncharted territory for me But I enjoyed the overall story despite my aversion to certain…um, fetishes. I would never seek a book out because of those details but it did nothing to dissuade my hope for their HEA

This book was my introduction to dark romance, and has be absolutely obsessed. I loved reading this book and it brought me out of a dreadfully long reading slump. Anyone that is interested in trying dark romance, this is a good place to start. I love the playlist at the beginning of the book. It prompted me to create a playlist on amazon that consists solely of songs from book playlists.

Woof… I do not think that book was my style. Outside of the darker aspects of it, I really couldn’t find much to humanize or romanticize about kal…

ZERO STARS holy crap this book is god awful - shame on me for blindly believing internet hype and borrowing the book from the lib without reading about it more.
The writing is utterly mediocre and I’d be embarrassed if anyone saw me with the book in public. I read up to 172 pages, so I gave it a good chance. This reads like the shitty work of a 14 year old wattpad author. GOODBYE

More like a 3.5

wouldn’t recommend this to anybody i don’t even know why i finished it

I love how she paints these vivid images & bares the characters souls to the reader. I felt like this idea was very interesting & had a lot of potential, but I wasn't invested. It was lacking some development and the climax was lack luster for me. I love a hefty dose of sex in any book, but I needed more from the plot & overall storytelling to really pull me along.

I don't know why I keep getting sucked into reading books from my tiktok fyp, but it's once again just wasted my time. This book had (emphases on had) good potential, but definitely fell short in a lot of categories. Within two or three chapters, I had to search online to double check that I had the correct book. From the beginning, it just feels like I'm reading the second book in a series and missing so much information. I'm all for great spice scenes, which lived up to the expectation, but it's hard to enjoy them when there's barely any chemistry between the two. The MC annoyed me as well, but that's just a matter of my opinion. Regardless, if Miller had just provided us some more detail prior to beginning the story it might've saved the original plot. Would only recommend if you need to pass a few hours on a boring Sunday, besides that, I'd pass.

I really liked this book for what it was, a quick, easy, steamy read. The story was a bit weak but I assumed that when I decided to read this book, I just wanted an entertaining book to spend the day reading. Overall, it wasn’t a horrible read but also not the best thing I have read, just an enjoyable quick read.

I think I need the wash my eyes with holly water after this book! LOL (kidding) It's a nice story, well written, but the plot behind the story isn't well developed, and the whole book revolves around the hot, crazy, intense, dark sex the MC's have. I liked it, but this book isn't just for everybody, it has some details about cutting and blood that may disturbe some readers.

This book made me rethink my entire spice rating system. I think this is probably the darkest and most explicit romance book that I’ve read to date. This is certainly a book for those who like toxic, degrading, and dirty romances.
Promises and Pomegranates is a dark contemporary romance based loosely on the story of Hades and Persephone. Elena is the daughter of a mafia boss and Kal is the enforcer and extractor of information, the one who does the dirty work. Kal forces Elena into marriage and whisks her away to a secret(ish) location. Kal is trying to leave his role in the mafia behind and fulfill terms to a secret of his own but Elena’s family makes it difficult at every turn… not to mention Elena is always finding herself in a mess.
⚠️ There are extreme trigger warnings in this book ⚠️
Overall, the plot was good and there was a decent amount of character development. There were some unresolved points in the story that I would have like to of seen finished. I also found Elena to be a little whiny and she forgives him way too fast. The ending was a bit sudden and I would have liked to see that played out a little more. It is one of the better Hades and Persephone tropes that I’ve read though. And there’s A LOT of sex.

This novel was ok. I will likely read more of the series

the smut omg,so dark but so cute , THE ENGRAVING OF INITIALS, maybe I now have a knife kink, no comment... kal is honestly so sweet, carmen can DIE, she groomed kal u can not change my mind; i cant wait to read the second book, we are going to overlook him killing matteo, and making elena sign the vows on his dead body, the ending wasn’t really anything surprising, but still I loved it, I wish we found out what happens with violet, and if/how her and kal get closer. Bitches need to re-name their child tho 😭

Read in one sitting. Couldn't put it down and lived for the toxic tension

Last time I read this book it was a DNF. Deciding to give it another go, this time I finished it but it just wasn’t my cup of tea If you like spicy books, then this is for you, out of the 300 + pages, 280 of them are spicy smutty scenes. I liked the ideas behind the characters and storyline but the execution didn’t do it for me. Jumping straight into the relationship between two people without any prior history, no slow burn, it just didn’t create a connection for me. The ”plot twist” (I’m assuming that’s what it was) at the end was nothing to be surprised at? The characters appearing throughout the book had no backstory and no substance what so ever. This book overall is just 🌽, if you want smut then this is for you as that’s all it basically is and it’s in extreme detail. Not for me. ⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Spoilers in the highlights and notes! Okay I enjoyed this book tbh , the smut was immaculate and the DIRTY TALK PHEWWWW but just the storyline was just okay. I loved Elena’s and Kals relationship and how she was just as fucked up as him but in the best way, but I wish she would have made him grovel a little more at the end! I also really enjoyed Elena’s relationships with her sisters, Ariana was hilarious.

Idk y’all… book tok stays disappointing me. I did not enjoy this lmao. Was he hot? yes-ish. was she a bit boring? Yes. Age gap was so completely questionable and unnecessary. Was the smut good enough to keep me with the plot? No. I hate when you write an MC who is supposed to be unbeatable and then spend the whole first half showing me that literally everyone and their mother can bamboozle him. What. Is. The. Point. I DNF’d.
Highlights

“She’d say humans are made up of energy, and that energy has a certain magnetism to it that attracts both what we fear and what we desire, and that it was up to us to reflect the kind of life we wanted to the universe so it would be able to deliver”

"If you love him," Stella says, adjusting her glasses, "then you love him. Plain and simple. That doesn’t go away, no matter the circumstance.”

If hearts were made of glass, the remaining pieces of mine would be jagged and splintered, wholly incapable of being glued back together.

Maybe Hades was lonely too, and he brought Persephone to his realm because he knew she'd bring the light with her.

"Or all that time she spends with her nose buried in a book.”

Because that's what happiness is. The people you find along the way who make life a little more bearable. And once you find them, you don't let them go.

As the cool, sweet liquid glides down, cooling me where his gaze makes me warm, I know. In the pit of my stomach, in the fabric of my soul, I know. I’m in love with my husband.
Yikesssss.

“Well, I’m certainly not giving them bloody virginal bedsheets.”
Hardin quaking in his boots rn.

“You’re not a weapon,” he says, his touch burning me from the inside out. “You’re a pawn. That ring on your finger makes you my pawn. Don’t forget that.”
How about I just be a human?

“Tell that to Buddy Holly, JFK Jr., and Ritchie Valens.” “To be fair, two of those were the same crash.” I point a finger in her direction.
I know, I read Aristotle and Dante Discover The Secrets Of The Universe 🥶💪🏻

“I’m not your enemy, little one.”
“You’re not my friend, either.”
A muscle thumps beneath his left eye, and his gaze drops to my lips. “No,” he agrees, sliding his hand so his thumb brushes over my mouth, plucking my bottom lip like a guitar string. “I’m your husband.”
That was funny.

Moral licensing I didn’t think twice about until the lines bled too fully for me to distinguish between them.
Until Elena.
The most forbidden of fruits.
Persephone to my Hades, as some used to call me. Springtime in a world rife with death and destruction.
A woman I scorned until I found myself blinded by a new obsession.
Until I tasted her—the dewy essence of her supple skin, the tang of her arousal glistening on her own fingertips, the salt of her tears as I shattered the last vestiges of her innocence.
Whether she knows it or not, she gave herself to me that night.
Surrendered her soul under the guise of choice.
And though I left the way Death usually does—silently, before dawn—it was never my intention not to return and collect.
I swear if he raped hee, I'll lose my shit.
