Quiet Girl in a Noisy World An Introvert's Story
Reviews

it's light and [very] relatable introvert girl's story based on everyday life. not that funny. maybe boring for the extroverts. but as an introvert, i enjoyed reading this comic. i felt understood. oh and it made me envy debbie so much that she found her extrovert soulmate who completed her. i wish i can find mine soon.

I have been following Tung's Facebook page for a while, and her comic strips evoke a strong feeling of deja vu. Her book is a quiet reflection on her struggles as an introvert, and her quieter ways to overcome it all. Overcoming doesn't mean that she succumbs to societal pressures. Instead, she finds her own sacred spot where she can be herself, and stops trying to be what she is not. This is quietly inspiring, for the world presses on the phantom need to stay connected. PS: I wilfully used the word 'quiet' too many times. :)

I loved this book so much that I immediately mailed the author after reading it. I must admit it was a mushy email, but worth it. I have read a lot of comic books, but none has been so close to my heart as this one. Debbie has represented, with an accuracy that is simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming, the introverts and what goes on in their mind. The whole depiction is realistic and so ordinary, I am surprised at how much it has a recall value! My favorite bit is how her journey gives an account of how she figured it out. It gives out hope! (and so does her relationship with Jason) I couldn't have kicked off my year with a better book!

Crazy, I relate to 100% of this book š„²

** spoiler alert ** I started this little illustration book by a recommendation of a friend who knows me. Because almost all illustrations and feelings were a reflection of my life and my inner self. Once you find out that youāre a chronic introvert, you start to accept yourself. I felt frustrated trying to fit into the extrovert peopleās life since I couldnāt. And this book is a story of an introvertās discovery of herself. I found myself a lot and this gave me the comfortability by knowing that Iām not alone.

Tbh I can really related with the story about introvertšš. The illustration quiet good.

From this moment forward, whenever anyone says, āTell me about yourself!ā - Iām just going to hand them a copy of this book.

I grabbed Quiet Girl in a Noisy World from Netgalley thinking it would be another collection of silly comics without a lot of substance (which isn't a bad thing), but this one was a bit more poignant than expected. There's still a lot of one shots meant for laughing at, but Tung portrays well the challenges of being an introvert in a world that really wants you to hustle and be loud. It's not all funny, and sometimes one's shyness and need for alone time can really botch up your life. Plus making phone calls really is the devil! A short, but impactful read for the people in your life that just want to stay at home and be quiet most of the time.

āItās perfectly fine to prefer thinking to talking.ā This book is just what I needed. And Iām sure youāll love it as much as I do.

Loved it. So relatable. Like Sarah Andersen comics, but a bit less silly. I think the strength of this book is normalizing introvert tendencies and legitimizing their feelings in a busy and loud world.

Yes! So many recognisable scenarios. And that battery analogy!

*3.5 āļø This was an adorable, painfully relatable comic memoir all about the ups and downs of introversion. I loved the art style so much. Itās so cute and simple and absolutely perfect for the narrative. While I donāt think itās the most interesting comic, Iād highly recommend it to any introverts out there looking for someone to understand them, even just for thirty minutes.

I enjoyed this as much as Book Love. Also, this reminds me of the time I won a "most behaved" award in grade school, only because I was too quiet.

Quite possibly the most relatable thing Iāve ever read. And again, I love the illustrations.

This book was SO relatable!! I love Debbie Tungās art style and the story was so cute and true!!

I really enjoyed this and it had so many relatable moments! I definitely connected with this one on many levels.

Triggered by how well it represents us fellow INFJ.

I'm not a 100% introvert, but mostly I am on the inside, so I understood a lot of the things the author was talking about. I think it's a good comic about self-acceptance and love for yourself.

This was honestly the most relateable thing I have ever read!

Perfect. I connected to it on a deep level.

3.5 āļø i truly adore the art style!! i think i might pick up book love next āŗļø
