i usually don’t give five stars to a book until it emotionally scars me a little bit. this book didn’t emotionally scar me but i just couldn’t find a reason not to give it five stars. i enjoyed every chapter, character, idea, setting, etc.

imagine the story of snow white but like mixed with star wars, a strong female protagonist, and enemies to lovers. how freaking awesome does that sound? classic fairytale retellings aren’t usually my thing but this book does everything right.

Loved this book! Essie and Dane are characters you can't help falling in love with! If i had to pick one thing to change about this book would be that it was longer. Otherwise, a great story by this novice writer!

           Ho letto questo libro dal cellulare, quindi credo che la mia esperienza di lettura sia stata un po' rovinata per questo motivo. Lo ho letto a pezzi distanziati nel tempo.

La storia in generale è carina, riprende la storia di Biancaneve cambiando quasi tutto. Il setting sci-fi è una buona idea, ha reso la storia originale.
Non sono una grande fan di Essie, non riuscivo a relazionarmi con lei e con i suoi pensieri. Il POV in prima persona non credo si addicesse molto alla storia.
Non ho capito bene le motivazioni della matrigna di Essie. Perché odiava così tanto la ragazza? Soprattutto ora che è lei la regina, perché sta cercando di ucciderla? Tanto ti succederebbe al trono solo dopo la tua morte, lasciala stare, no?
Le descrizioni degli ambienti sono state poco chiare, era difficile immaginare i diversi pianeti e i posti dove si svolgevano le azioni.
In generale, se dovessi tornare indietro e scegliere se leggere questo libro, penso che lo eviterei. Nonostante alcune parti ok, non mi ha lasciato molto e non è stato all'altezza delle mie aspettative.

“Brave is being scared and doing what needs to be done anyway” 

The first thing I need to say is this: people have compared this book a lot to Marissa Meyer's Cinder and while there are similarities such as the science fiction setting and a few other elements, Stitching Snow is not a rip off; it has its uniqueness and was utterly fantastic. It needs to be acknowledged that fairy tale retellings are bound to have similar themes and elements, there is no way to really escape that. 

Essie has built a life for herself on the planet Thanda, a planet of miners. However, the life Essie built for herself on Thanda does not involve mining, at least, not her mining physically herself. She is sort of a tech genius - she works on the drones in the mines and even helps repair a ship that crashes nearby. She has seven drones (get it, seven drones...Snow White retelling... ;)) all with adorably appropriate names (Dimwit being my favorite of the drones). Essie is also a kick butt heroine. To make extra cash, she fights the male miners in cage fights, and she nearly always wins. This is something I loved about Essie: she was spunky, had a mind of her own and knew how to take care of herself. She was not just some helpless damsel who let others protect her; no, she knew how to protect herself.

With the crashing ship I mentioned previously comes along Dane. I have to say, he just might be my favorite YA guy ever. He is so protective of Essie. Of course, there was some rough patches with this relationship (isn't there always?) and I cannot really go into detail about anything without giving spoilers but I will say that I feel everything that happened on both sides was justifiable given the circumstances and the hell that was breaking loose as the story went on.

Also, there was no love triangle!! I was so glad! The romance was so swoon worthy but did not detract from the main plot which was wonderful. I have a love/hate relationship with love triangles. Sometimes I am alright with them and can even see how they play an important role in the plot of a story. Though, a majority of the time I cannot stand love triangles especially when they add unnecessary drama and contribute nothing to the plot of the story. It was such a relief to not have to deal with that in this book because it would have completely ruined the story for me. Also, the romance was not insta-love, which is also a plus. 

The writing style was good and the story very fast paced. I was hooked from page one. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves fairy tale retellings. But also, for those of you who love Cinder, just as I did, don't sit there comparing the two. There are similarities yes but Stitching Snow is its own story and is up there among my favorites which also includes Cinder.

I've decided I really like Snow White retellings. Like yeah the source material is more than a little problematic with its passive heroine and more than a few characters of questionable...well, character. But that's what makes retellings fun! We get to fix all that! 
I loved the science fiction setting, and definitely think fans of the Lunar Chronicles would appreciate it as well and should check out this book. Shows story is really cleverly adapted and I liked the elements of both the original fairytale and the popular Disney version that were brought in. The way Lewis played the elements to fit with thenscifi setting was well done and very entertaining to read. 
Overall, it wasn't my favorite book, but I definitely liked the key elements and it made up for a past story I didn't like as much (hemhem, Grimm brothers) so I'ved definitely group it with all my beloved fairytale adaptions.

I'm always okay with reading a good fairytale retelling. This one was really good, but I did see a lot of connections to the Lunar Chronicles. I liked how this book is just a standalone though, and so I knew that there wouldn't be a huge epic cliffhanger at the end. The main character, Essie, was a great perspective, and the flow of the book worked really well. I never really liked the story of Snow White, but this story put a really good twist to it!
