It was engaging until about the halfway mark. The characters, even the narrator, are all written to be elusive perhaps in an attempt to seem mysterious or be alluring, but the vagueness and lack of depth made it imposible for me to become invested in them and the story overall. It seemed like the author read girl interrupted and wanted to write something exciting about mental illness and institutions, but didn’t know enough about these experiences to write anything deeper than the surface level any bystander would be privy to. Boring.
