Heart Stronger

Heart Stronger

"Sometimes, I feel like I'm watching a movie...that it's not really me, Claire Richards, getting this second chance at life." "Open your eyes, it's you, and I'm damn glad it's with me." Aiken Single mom and college professor Claire Richards only wanted a few hours of me time to soak in her tub, read a book, and drink wine. But tragedy struck, and Claire found herself with a lot more me time than she bargained for. ree years later, Claire is still mourning her losses when Aiken Fordham-who looks young enough to be one of her college students- moves in next door. Forcing Claire to face her fears, Aiken almost forgets his reason for moving to Small Town, Pennsylvania. Falling for the sexy, smart, and strong professor next door was never in the plan. But now it is...until their future intersects with their pasts.

After losing her daughter Claire doesn't think she deserves a second chance at happiness, but Aiken is making it hard for her to resist the feelings that have been rising. Aiken is on a journey of his own, but this some how lets them bond. I love how this book shows the journey a person can go through after tragedy strikes. Aiken sees a woman who is in pain, but also wants to grow. I loved how Aiken pushed her at times, but knew when to back off. I also loved reading about Claire's career. I studied something similar, so it was fun to have a character that is into something similar. The way the characters developed and the story unfolded, was at a perfect pace. I loved how everything developed slowly. Yes, Aiken and Claire had an instant connection, but it wasn't instalove. Aiken really worked for Claire and they took it step by step. Near the end there was a plottwist I did not see coming. The author handled that very well and I am happy Claire got her closure. I really hope the author is planning on giving Mary a book though. After that ending I need to know more!
