Demonglass was an excellent addition to the Hex Hall series.

I love Rachel Hawkin's writing. It gives me nostalgic vibes because this was literally written when I was in high school. I had always meant to pick up this series, but I could never find the first book! This book was easy to find, so it has been sitting on my shelf for quite a while. Then I stumbled across Hex Hall, and the rest is history.

Sophie, Cal and Jenna get sent off to be with Sophie's Dad for the summer. She is supposed to learn more about herself and her demon abilities, but things just get messy. Archer is also in the U.K., and may be near her. Cal is.... duh duh duhhhh.... apart of an arrangement marriage with her and Sophie sees Elodie's ghost. People are not what they appear to be... and fights breakout.

This book was super fast paced and full of drama. I loved every second of it! I honestly wish I had the final book in this series because I was hooked! The predictable love triangle was welcomed by me and I was totally obsessed with the typical YA structure. Honestly, this book is just fun for me! It brings back wonderful memories from high school! Back in those days, a lot of the books followed these trends. It made me feel young again! Good boy, bad boy and poor old Sophie. Best friend with a love interest but isn't giving her super best friend a lot of attention. Jerky adults who don't understand. 

The story left me on a cliffhanger, wanting to know what's going to happen with Sophie, Archer and Cal. I'm Team Cal, I'll wear the t-shirt, but I feel like it's not gonna end that way. 

Overall, super fun! I loved it Gimme more, gimme more, gimme more!

ZOMG! I didn't think it was possible for me to love Sophie more than I do already but Rachel Hawkins managed to turned my love into a near obsession! I think I might love Demonglass slightly more than I loved Hex Hall. I really wish I could fast forward to next March so I can find out what the heck happens next! So far one of my favorite books of 2011!!!

So it was a little slow at first but then it picked up.

I'm still a little bit of a mess because Cal & Archer are too perfect. I mean Archer's little speech to Sophie and Cal risking his life to save her dad and the guy she clearly loves more. Also, the intensity of the last couple of chapters! Woohzah! I completely misread everything in relation to the council . I suspected that it was one of the members but not Lara. For some reason I think Lara was instead really digging Sophie's dad. Anywho starting Book 3 soon! :-)

Characters **** Not only do our friends return, we get even more great characters! Sophie's dad is super cool and I love the addition of him.

Cover **** This cover would be perfect if it wasn't for one thing. WHY DO ALL THREE COVERS HAVE A CAT?!?!?! I'm in the middle of book three right now. So far, NO CAT.

Pace **** This series is just moving so dang quickly! Part of that may just be that I'm enjoying it but, yeah. Great pacing, love how things are unfolding.

Plot **** Oh the last quarter of this one was SO DAMN GOOD. I kind of had an idea of things were going but I was happy they went in the direction they did so I'm okay with that. The ending was KILLER.
 
Writing **** As I said in my review for Hex Hall, I've always enjoyed Hawkins' writing style It's her plot choices I don't always mesh with. So far in this series, I'm completely happy with both things.

Enjoyment ***** Full five here. I was super happy my copy of the third book came in the mail today because basically the second I finished this book I had to pick up the third one and start it. These are just a fun quick read with enjoyable characters and an interesting world.

Overall. Having a great time reading these. If you like 2010 era witchy YA, I highly recommend.
