Oh dear. One girl, two brothers. Who will she choose? Kacey has grown up with them. She ends up dating Jake, and Travis ends up tormenting her. You know, like pulling her braids, putting a snake in her bed....that kind of stuff. But they are "grown ups" now and Travis has been in love with Kacey his whole life. My issues with this book. The characters are all beyond immature. I was embarrassed for them. Not one knew how to behave like an adult. Secondly, the author's attempt at humour was way too much. Sometimes less is more. Apparently the author did not agree. I mean, who slips on a thong?? Thongs aren't slippery. I actually even tried an experiment to see if I could slip on a thong. But nope, couldn't be done. But Travis did it. I know I'm the minority when it comes to my rating of this book, but I just couldn't find anything redeeming in it for me. If you're looking for a ridiculous, unrealistic, fluff read then this may be worth picking up.

The Bet was a nice, lighter, fun, romantic read. To start with this isn't a love triangle. It sure sounds like it, but it's not. Once you get into the book there is not competition and you are going to be rooting for one brother in particular. Kacey hasn't had it easy since her parents passed away. She lost her only family and moved away from her only home. Not only did she lose her family but in the same night she lost her best friend. "What do you do when the life you though you were supposed to have is stolen from you? What do you do when it's your fault and you can't even tell anyone the reason why?" Her best friend, Jake, comes back after years of not talking and a terribly, shaky ending and offers her a proposition. To be his fake fiance. Now this has trouble written all over it, but she just cannot say no to her former best friend. Kacey, Jake, and his brother Travis all grew up together. The Titus family became Kacey's second family as they all were childhood best friends. Travis Titus has always been in the background. The older brother. The kid with the stutter. The one who picked on Kacey all her childhood because he liked her. Boys. But Travis has always been the one to try and help her. He always picked up the pieces for her, without her knowing. He would always be in the background. "She'd left home to escape the pain, not knowing that one day, this day, she'd return to find her own true happiness." The whole time I found myself rooting for a certain Titus brother. It's a fun, light read and I enjoyed every page of it.

so originally i gave this 4 stars, then i thought about it some and realized it’s not that good. As a surface level read, sure it’s good but once you actually think about what you just read your confused. Basically the whole premise is this “bet”, but this “bet” is mentioned maybe two times? (could be more honestly i forgot a bet was made) Which actually is another point! you forgot all that happens because every other page something new is happening! There is also just no explanation to what was going on with Jake the whole time. He just does his thing but nothing else comes out of it. I really feel like his character could have been developed a lot more. I really could go on and on with all the inconsistencies but I’ll just stop here. Overall this was an enjoyable read if you just don’t think about it.
