I don’t think there was anything that I liked about this book.

Faythe is living a human life when an outside threat causes her father to order her home. When she gets there, it’s mostly boy drama and Faythe trying to show that she’s a rebel. Eventually, the plot with the missing tabbies is talked about.

The beginning was kind of fine, when you were still learning about the world and Faythe’s situation, but then things just went downhill.

Faythe was a selfish person, who didn’t really care about any of the guys she was toying with, and her desire to leave the ranch felt like a rebellious phase. Granted, her father and the enforcers could have been more forthcoming with the information they had, but maybe they weren’t because she was so adamant that she was leaving. Throughout this whole book, Faythe has a boyfriend that she doesn’t see because she’s moved back to the ranch and he’s human, which could also be the reason that she didn’t see the point in being faithful. Faythe was bored so she led Jace on when she knew that nothing serious would happen between them. She constantly talks about Marc and not wanting to go back to him, but then at the end, her attitude completely changes and they’re talking about loving each other.

Nothing happens with the plot – Faythe wasn’t all that interested in searching for the other tabbies, and she wasn’t included in the plans to find them. Near the end, Faythe gets kidnapped too (because she was running away which presented the perfect opportunity for the kidnappers) and she manages to get away and then get revenge on Miguel.

There’s nothing that would make me want to continue this series – I didn’t like Faythe or Marc, the side characters weren’t really developed, and the plot was in the background until it was convenient.

"But I'd take a slashed throat over a broken neck any day. At least that way I'd get to bleed all over his shoes. One final fuck-you before I died." I stepped out of my comfort zone with this book and I'm glad I did. Normally, I stick to vampire books if I want to read outside of the romance category. I saw this series on my local Craigslist site and purchased it deciding I'd give it a go since she was selling the series cheap. I am extremely glad I ran across that post! Faythe is a rebel, which every young woman has a phase of. She got away from her Pride by convincing her father to let her go to college. I love the major she chose to pursue, and if you can't guess it... it's literature! Faythe is a bookworm, like myself. I always love it when I can be on a personal level with the main character and I love having things in common with them. "Ask for the impossible, then settle instead for what you really wanted in the first place." There is a sort of love triangle between Faythe, Marc and Jace. I, of course, was rooting for Marc the entire time. They were together before so I was hoping she'd give him the second chance he deserved. I like how Marc is possessive and protective over her. It's always nice when there's an alpha who knows how to treat his woman. "The moment the door opened I knew an ass-kicking was inevitable. Whether I'd be giving it or receiving it was still a bit of a mystery." The action is better than I expected. There is an abundance of "the edge of your seat" moments. There were times I could not put the book down for anything. There's plenty of blood and gore for those who love it. I'm ready to find out what awaits Faythe and Marc in New Orleans!

The story and writing style was ok, but pretty brutal and gory altogether. Lots of blood, mutilation and rape. I think I won't be continuing with this series.
