To no one's surprise, I have absolutely devoured this book. It got delivered to my house at about 1:00 today and I immediately sat down to start reading it. After reading Ophelia After All last year and falling in love with that and Racquel Marie's simultaneously palatable and gut-wrenching writing, I knew this book would make me feel the same way if not even more because of my soccer roots. I was absolutely correct. Racquel has this really great gift for the contemporary genre with a romance sideplot that absolutely swept me off my feet again. I saw myself in some of Vale's struggles and found myself learning more about myself through her as well as she managed her expectations for herself and others and grew as a person throughout her summer adventure at camp. I still sing the praises of OAA (which I caught some amazing easter eggs for in here!) and I'm so excited to sing the praises for You Don't Have A Shot now as well. If you like sports, complicated but overall lovable and ever-changing and evolving characters, moving through life, high school, and grief, and summer fun playing soccer, this is absolutely the book for you.
