Sometimes you just need to eat a giant fast food meal. You know you'll regret it later, but in the moment it's good. This book is mid-tier fast food.

This book has lots of problems (sexist, pro-murder, etc), but the characters are believable and the situations are interesting. It's particularly interesting because it was written pre-9/11, where special forces groups were still small and rare, and also terrorism was on a downturn. Islamic terrorism isn't even mentioned in this book. The most fascinating part of this book was walking through the logistics of setting up a reactionary military force. A lot of the thought processes going into building a team focused purely on emergency military response reminded me of my day to day work.
